SHOPLIFTING CHARGES Yesterday at 6:20 pm, police officers were called to the Zellers Store in Station Mall where store security had arrested a female shoplifter.

Yesterday at 6:20 pm, police officers were called to the Zellers Store in Station Mall where store security had arrested a female shoplifter.

Security officers apprehended the accused, Diana Pitawanakwat, age 18 of 15 Lorna Drive, when she allegedly removed some cosmetic products from the store without paying for them. Police officers arrested and charged the accused with Theft under $5,000.00. She will appear in court on May 26th.


STOLEN BEER KEGS
Yesterday between 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm, the accused, an 18-year-old male from Hughes Street, along with a co-accused, Wesley Hallam, age 21 of 63 Foothill Road, allegedly stole two empty aluminum beer kegs from 624 Wellington Street West, the Sportscenter Bar and Grill.

The 18-year-old was in possession of one of these beer kegs valued at $50.00 in the parking lot of a building on Conmee Avenue.

At 8:30 pm, police officers arrested and charged the 18-year-old with Theft under $ 5,000.00 and Possession of Stolen Property, along with Breach of Probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He will appear in court on May 26th.

The co-accused, Hallam, was on a recognizance with condition not to consume alcohol and he had been drinking. Police officers noted that the accused, Hallam, smelled of an alcoholic beverage and admitted to consuming 4 beers.

Police officers also arrested and charged him at 8:30 pm with Theft under $5,000.00, Possession of Stolen Property, Breach of Probation and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking. He will appear in bail court today.


ARRESTED FOR THREATENING DEATH
On Saturday at 4:45 pm, patrol officers were called to a residence on Wellington Street West. Upon their arrival, officers spoke with the complainant, a 28-year-old male and a 21-year-old female. Both indicated that the female's ex-boyfriend had approached them while they were in their vehicle at a residence on McFadden Avenue.

At that time the 20-year-old ex-boyfriend, from Fourth Avenue began to bend both mirrors on the driver's and passenger side of the vehicle and he also made several scratches along the driver's side area.

The accused also at this time was cursing and swearing at both parties and he smashed out the back glass portion of the vehicle, a Ford Explorer belonging to the 28-year-old male.

Further to this the 20-year-old accused made several comments to the 28-year-old male victim by stating that he was either going to kill him that evening or the next day.

The victims locked all doors to the vehicle and left the area as they had 4 young children with them. No harm done to the children and they were not injured in anyway.

The accused was observed leaving the scene riding a silver BMX bicycle. Efforts to locate the accused on the April 19th were unsuccessful.

The approximate damage done to the vehicle was the side passenger mirror valued $200.00, scratches on the driver's side area valued at $500.00 and the smashed out rear window valued at $1,000.

Today at 4:10 am, patrol officers were able to locate the accused and he was arrested and charged with Mischief and Threatening Death. He will appear in court today.


BREAK & ENTERS
Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two break and enters yesterday. At 8:11 am, officers were called to Lock City Monuments at 56 White Oak Drive for a reported break and enter.

At 11:48 pm, police were called to a residence on Elgin Street where sometime in the previous two hours thieves broke in and stole some stereo equipment and some CDs.
