Robbery Suspect Picked up Near Wawa

On the 16th of April just before 5 pm a male entered the Medicine Shoppe at 59 Great Northern Road, gave a note to an employee indicating that he had a gun, he wanted oxycotin and morphine and that he would start shooting if the drugs were not given to him. The male left the pharmacy with approximately $350.00 worth of drugs. The employee did not receive any injuries. The male fled the scene in a Ford Escape that had been reported stolen from A & A Auto Sales in Lethbridge Alberta. The male was arrested after he was located by the Ontario Provincial Police 2 hours later driving in the stolen vehicle on Highway 17 North in Tiernan Township, which is located approximately 39 km south of Wawa Ontario. The vehicle was stopped and the lone male occupant was found in possession of the drugs that were stolen from the Medicine Shoppe. The male was also found in possession of a crow bar and a flick knife. The male was escorted back to Sault Ste. Marie and officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service continued with the investigation.
Arrested in connection to this robbery is 33 year-old Jody Berge from Lethbridge Alberta. He will be appearing in Bail court this morning. He had been charged with the following:
1) One count of robbery
2) Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime
3) Possession for purpose dangerous to public
4) Unauthorized possession of a weapon

Stolen Credit Card

19 Year-old Lara Martin of 207 Spruce Street was arrested on he 16th of April just before 5 pm at Sears in the Station Mall and charged with one count of possession of a stolen credit card, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and three counts of fraud. It is alleged that on the 10th of April the accused attended at Sears and purchased a MP3 player and walkman worth $276.96 and a gift card worth $200 using a stolen credit card. On the 16th of April just before 5 pm the accused attended at Sears and attempted to purchase $720.00 worth of merchandise once again with a stolen credit card. The cashier learned that the credit card was stolen and notified police. The accused will appear in court on the 28th of May.

Assault & Threatening

41 year-old Bernie Cadreau of 232 Brien Avenue was arrested just before 9 pm on the 16thof April in an east end business parking lot and charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening death or bodily harm. It is alleged that the accused assaulted a male known to him at a downtown residence on that date by slapping him in the head. It is also alleged that he threatened to kill him. The accused is to appear in court on the 28th of May.

Mischief & Breach

A 20 year-old male was arrested at his west-end residence just after 11:30 pm on the 16th of April and charged with one count of mischief under $5000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 16th of April the accused attended with his 23 year-old sister at her ex-boyfriend’s west-end residence and smashed the door when he would not let them in. At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to appear in court on the 28th of May.

The following break and enters were reported overnight:

1) A home was entered on Douglas Street on the 16th of April between the hours of 7 am and 4 pm. Items reported stolen were a pair of silver cufflinks and a watch.

2) A residence on in the 300 block of Goulais Avenue was entered on the 16th of April between the hours of 11:20 pm and 15:40 pm. Items reported stolen were 2 hunting knives, 2 motorola 2 way radios, a pair of binoculars and a small amount of alcohol.

3) A residence on Chambers Avenue was entered on the 15th of April between the hours of 1 pm and 10:50 am on the 16th of April. Jewellery was reported stolen.
