Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigation Services unit are continuing their investigation into four Armed Robberies at east end Mac's Marts which have occurred over the last two weeks. As a
result of their investigation the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has issued an arrest warrant for 36 year old Corey James Hynes of no fixed abode. He is described as 6' tall, 230lbs with long dark hair. Hynes usually pulls his hair back into a ponytail. Hynes is also known to occasionally wear glasses. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking for the publics' assistance in locating accused person Corey Hynes. If anyone has information about these robberies or have information that would assist in locating Cory Hynes they are asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime

Break-in In Progress

On the 09th of April 2009 at approx. 2:00 pm police responded to an address on Wright St. in regards to a break-in in progress. A male had attended at the front door and rang the door bell and when no one answered the door the male went to a rear window and smashed it. After gaining entry the accused discovered the residents were home and fled out the door and was apprehended by police after a short foot chase. Blake Tyler Hudson aged 26 of 674 Albert St. west will appear in court on the 11 May 2009.

Numerous Charges

20 year old Danny John Paul Lepage of 211 Gloucester St. will appear in court this morning charged with numerous offences. It is alleged the accused who was with two other unknown males forced their way into a residence in the 100 block of South Market St. The accused was armed with a sawed off shot gun. The accused was being held by the victim until they arrived on scene, the other males fled and the gun was recovered by police. The accused is charged with break, enter and unlawful possession of a firearm, and using a firearm during the commission of an offence.

Fire

Sault Ste Marie Police and Fire Services continue to investigate a fire that occurred on the 12 April 2009 at 01:43 am at 181 Andrew St. No injuries were reported. The building received some fire and smoke damage.

Break and Enters

A home was broken into in the early morning hours of the 13 April 2009 in the 200 block of Albert St. west. A TV and VCR were reported taken.

On the 12 April 2009 during day light hours a home was entered in the 200 block of At. George’s Ave. west. A cordless phone and a cordless drill were reported taken along with some Tylenol.

A home was entered on the 11 April 2009 in the 600 block of Lennox Ave. Nothing was reported taken.

A home under construction in the 300 block of East Balfour was entered on the 8th or 9th of April 2009. A box of nails and portable lights were reported taken.

Mischief

Mail boxes were reported damaged in the 100 block of Third Line east on the 13th of April 2009.

The windows of a bus shelter located on Wellington St. west by St. George’s Ave. were smashed sometime overnight on the 09th of April 2009.

Numerous vehicles were entered in the Goulais Ave., Douglas St., Asquith St and Pittsburg Ave. area. Some vehicles were entered and had tools, DVD player, loose change and beer taken. Many of the cars had windows smashed to gain entry.

Vehicles were also entered on Hardwood St. as well as Retta St.
