Two Persons Arrested for 14 th of March St. Andrews Terrace Home Invasion: Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigations Unit have arrested two persons in relation to a home invasion that occurred on the 14 th of March at a St.

Two Persons Arrested for 14th of March St. Andrews Terrace Home Invasion: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Investigations Unit have arrested two persons in relation to a home invasion that occurred on the 14th of March at a St. Andrew’s Terrace residence.  It is alleged that during the incident, the homeowner was sprayed in the face with bear mace and the two forced their way inside. A laptop, a lock box and a purse were stolen from the home and the victim received non-life threatening injuries.  As a result of the investigation, Brent Simpson, age 40, of 282 Spadina Avenue was charged with one count of break and enter, one count of disguise with intent and one count of administering a noxious thing with intent to endanger life or cause bodily harm.  He is to appear in bail court this morning.  The second accused, Cindy Morissette, age 33, of 802 Bonney Street was charged with one count of break and enter.  She is to appear in court on the 14th of May.

Male Arrested for Theft: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23 year-old Bradley Hartling of 99 Sweet Grass Road on the 10th of April and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000,00 and two counts of breach of a release document.  It is alleged that on the 10th of April the accused was at the residence of a person known to him and stole an antique rifle. At the time of the offense the accused was under the influence of alcohol and was on a recognizance not to consume alcohol and was also breaching his curfew. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Inmate at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre Charge with Mischief: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Jason Hampleman of no fixed address on the 8th of April at 1:20 pm and charged him with one count of mischief.  It is alleged that on the 8th of April while in custody at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre, the accused damaged the sprinkler system in his cell which resulted in the sprinkler and fire alarm being activated.  The accused is to appear in bail court this morning. 

Two Arrested with Drug Possession during Vehicle Stop: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two persons during a vehicle stop on the 6th of April on Queen Street East and charged them with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.  It is alleged that approximately 2:57 pm officers stopped a vehicle for speeding.  When officers checked the vehicle they could smell a strong odor of marijuana inside the car.  The two occupants, 27 year-old James Henry Smith, and 23 year-old Carolyn McKay, both of 183 Albert Street East, were arrested after being found in possession of a ziploc bag that contained approximately 25 marijuana buds inside.  They are to appear in court on the 7th of May. 

Male Charged in relation to Shoplifting Incident

On the 9th of April, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service charged 18 year-old Jason Genua of 23 Churchill Avenue with one count of theft under $5,000.00 in relation to a shoplifting incident that occurred on that date at the Dollarama store on Northern Avenue.   The accused is to appear in court on the 14th of May.   

Male Arrested for Assault on Female:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 46 year-old Rene Quesnel of #4-65 Wellington Street East on the 9th of April and charged him with one count of assault.  It is alleged that on the 5th of April the accused assaulted a female that was known to him.  The female received non-life threatening injuries during the incident.  The accused is to appear in court on the 7th of May. 

Three persons will be appearing in bail court this morning in relation to domestic related charges.

Arrest Made in Weekend Home Invasion – Seeking Public’s Assistance with Ongoing Investigation :

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year-old male youth on the 9th of April in relation to a home invasion that took place on 8th of April at approximately 1:28 am.  The youth is charged with one count of break and enter and one count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose.  It is alleged that the accused, and two other male suspects, forced their way into a residence on Johnson Avenue wearing balaclavas and bandanas, armed with a knives and a handgun.  The two residents and a guest that were in the home at the time were robbed of some cash and cell phones.  No injuries were reported. 

The investigation is ongoing and police are attempting to identify the other two male suspects.  One of the suspects was described as a white male, wearing a black bandana over his face, with a grey hoodie, approximately 5'11, fair skin, blue eyes, short hair, wrinkles around his eyes and white sneakers.  He also had a slight accent.  The second suspect is described as a white male, wearing a black hoodie, black balaclava, clean shaven, blue eyes, 5'9, thin build and approximately 160 lbs.

Weekend Break and Enter/Theft Reports:

  • A shed on Wallace Terrace was broken into.  A 2007 yellow Suzuki dirt bike was stolen.
  • A residence on Langdon Road was entered.  An Xbox and laptop were stolen.
  • A garage was broken into on Windsor Street. 
  • A garage on Douglas Street was broken into. 
  • A Second Line West home was entered.  Meat and various electronics were stolen.
  • A shed on Market Street was entered.  Four skateboards were stolen.
  • A garage on Gillies Street was entered.  Hockey equipment was stolen.   
  • A rear licence plate was stolen from a vehicle on Queen Street East.
  • A men’s Giant mountain bike was stolen on Ferguson Avenue.
