Attempted Robbery On Saturday April 8th at approx. 11:15 pm the Sault Ste Marie Police Service was called to the Algonquin Hotel in regards to an attempt robbery. Just after 11:00 pm three males attended at the front lobby of the hotel.

On Saturday April 8th at approx. 11:15 pm the Sault Ste Marie Police Service was called to the Algonquin Hotel in regards to an attempt robbery. Just after 11:00 pm three males attended at the front lobby of the hotel. One of the males was brandishing a large serrated knife and approached the office door. He demanded money from the clerk and cautioned her not to call the police. The clerk called police before the suspects could enter the office. The suspects subsequently fled from the hotel. The description of the suspects is as follows:

1. Male, white, 18-25 years of age, approx. 5’7”, slim build, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a white bandana over his face.

2. Suspect was wearing a black toque on his head, similar physical description.

3. Similar physical description also wearing a mask over his face.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or the Sault Ste Marie Police Service at 949-6300.

Assault

On Sunday April 8th at about 2:30 pm Sault Ste Marie Police arrested 43-year-old Frank Caicco and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that, on April 3rd, the accused assaulted a guard at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre on Great Northern Rd. The assault consisted of the accused choking the complainant. The guard did not required medical attention as a result of the assault. The accused will be appearing in bail court today.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated three break and enters over the weekend.

Break-ins were reported to residences in the 100 block of Donna Dr. - where jewellery and alcohol were taken, the 400 block of Woodcroft Ave - jewellery stolen and the 200 block of Goulais Ave. - unknown if anything was taken.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received two reports of mischief this weekend.

A vehicle was damaged in the 100 block of Country Club Pl. and a Locks Tour boat was damaged at 65 Foster Dr.
