Male arrested for theft: Yesterday evening city police were called to Rome’s Independent Grocers regarding a male shoplifter. Upon arrival officers spoke to store security and subsequently arrested Marty Hunter, age 22, of 14 South Gladstone Ave.

Yesterday evening city police were called to Rome’s Independent Grocers regarding a male shoplifter. Upon arrival officers spoke to store security and subsequently arrested Marty Hunter, age 22, of 14 South Gladstone Ave. It is alleged that at approx. 6:40 pm the accused entered Rome’s selected a package of cereal and left the store without attempting to pay for the item. He was apprehended outside the store and turned over to the city police. Mr. Hunter will be appearing in court on Oct 6th at 9:00 am.

Mischief:

City police received two reports of mischief overnight.
A residence in the 100 block of St. Andrews Terr. was damaged.
Vandals threw rocks at the satellite dish on the roof of Pinewood School damaging the wireless network.

Thefts:

Vehicles parked in the 100 block of Cambridge Pl and the 100 block of Carlbert St. were entered. It is not known at this time what was taken.
Items were stolen from a garage in the 100 block of Alworth Pl.

A resident of the 100 block of Hughes St. let a young female use her phone and later discovered that her purse was stolen. The suspect asked to use the phone to call her mother. When the victim left the room to give the girl privacy the suspect stole her purse and money. Suspect is described as: Female, Anishinabek, medium build, short dark hair.
