UPDATE:Additional Charges

The two males arrested yesterday after the Canine Unit tracked them from a break and enter in progress to a garage on Wellington Street West on the 17th of September at 12:41 am, were further charged for another break and enter to a garage on Cathcart Street that occurred that same night. At 8:00 am yesterday morning, officers were called by a home owner on Cathcart Street that reported that his garage had been broken into overnight. He reported several tools had been stolen, including a drill, a jigsaw, and an orbital polisher. When the two males were arrested, they were found in possession of items stolen from the break and enter on Wellington Street West as well as the drill, jigsaw and orbital polisher stolen from the garage on Cathcart Street.

Officers attended at the court house at 9:45 am yesterday morning where the two were being held until their bail hearing and 25 year-old Wayne Sinobert-Briscoe of #2-506 Sherbourne Street and 26 year-old Darrell Saunders of 227 Alexandra Street were further charged with another count of break, enter and commit and possession of property obtained by crime. Saunders was also charged with another count of breach of probation.

Female Arrested after Assaulting a Bartender

22 year-old Jennifer Agawa of #4-215 Turner Avenue was arrested on the 18th of September just before 12:50 am and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 18th of September just after midnight, the accused left a local bar with three other females after being cut off by a bartender who felt that they had enough to drink. A short time later the bartender attended outside the bar and was assaulted by the accused. The victim received minor injuries after being bitten by the accused. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Drug Charges

49 year-old Roger Shaw was arrested while in custody at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Female Charged As a Result of Shoplifting

24 year-old Kristi Lee Waboose of #2-175 Wellington Street East was arrested on the 17th of September at 3:45 pm at Sears in the Station Mall and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that she attended at Sears around 3:25 pm and stole a bottle of cologne. She was apprehended by store security and held for police. She is to appear in court on the 20th of October.

Two Suspects Wanted for Robbery at Pino’s Grocery Store

Last evening around 9:23 pm City Police were called to Pino’s Get Fresh Foods on Trunk Road for an attempt theft that quickly turned into a robbery. Around 9:21 pm a female attended inside the store, filled up a shoulder bag full of groceries and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. When an employee confronted the suspect and closed the door before she could leave, a struggle ensued. During the struggle, a male that was waiting for the female, just outside the entrance, attempted to get into the store by pulling on the doors. Three more employees went to assist the other employee, but all backed off after the male pulled out a yellow utility knife from his pocket. The two fled on foot towards Lewis Road empty- handed. Officers attended in the area and searched for the suspects, but they were unsuccessful in locating them.
No one was injured during the incident.
The suspects were described as one female, mid 20’s –early 30’s, with a thin build, long, black hair that was tied up at the back, dark complexion, possibly wearing a zip up hoodie and a grayish coloured head band.
The male was described as being approximately 6’feet tall, late 30’s –early 40’s, unshaven, short dark hair, dark complexion, wearing a black jacket and ball cap.
