Update to 10th of September Robbery - Arrest Made:

Earlier Release:
A male reported being robbed on the 10th of September at approximately 12:40 am while walking in the area of Dennis Street. The victim reported that the male suspect assaulted him, threatened to stab and shoot him. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s back pack, went through it, and stole a bus pass and the victim’s Koodo Blackberry Curve. The suspect was described as Anishinabek, approximately 5’10 with long hair.

Male Arrested for Robbery:
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 20 year-old Kyle Duncan of 183 Maple Street on the 14th of September at 9:36 am on Queen Street in relation to this robbery incident and charged him with one count of robbery and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Female Arrested for Breaching Release Documents:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 32 year-old Elizabeth Shier of no fixed address at 2:34 pm yesterday at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and charged her with three counts of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 10th and 12th of September the accused breached her recognizance release orders by breaching her curfew hours, being in possession of a small amount of drugs and drug paraphernalia and also being in the company of a person she was not to be with. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

Female Wanted on Outstanding Warrant Arrested during Shoplifting Incident:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 44 year-old Janice Myers of 68 August Street, Rankin Reserve on the 14th of September at 3:33 pm at Joe’s No Frills on Korah Road and charged her with one count of theft and also one count of breach of probation and one count of fail to appear court in relation to outstanding warrants. It is alleged that she attended at the store on that date and stole meat products valued at $43.73. She is to attend in bail court this morning.

Two Males Charged with Drug Possession:

On the 14th of September at approximately 6:45 pm members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team conducted a traffic stop in relation to a motor vehicle with stolen licence plates.  This traffic stop revealed that the licence plate had been stolen in 2006.  Officers also located 36.7 grams of cannabis marijuana, 2 digital scales and packaging materials inside the vehicle. As a result, the driver, James McLeod, 21, of #1-120 Pim Street was arrested and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. The male passenger, Daniel Stevenson, age 19, of 53 Broadview Avenue was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $534.00. Both are to appear in court on the 17th of October.

Child Pornography Investigation Results in Charges

On the 14th of September at 10:52 am investigators with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Technological Crime Unit and members of the Emergency Services Unit executed a search warrant at 353 McNabb Street (basement apt.) in relation to a child pornography investigation. As a result of the investigation conducted by the Technological Crime Unit that commenced on the 8th of July, officers arrested 39 year-old that Ken McFadden of that address and charged him with one count of possession of child pornography, one count of make child pornography available and one count of importing or distribution of child pornography. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Shoplifting Arrest:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 27 year-old Jeffrey Howard of #2-74 London Street and 18 year-old Taylor Myles of 74 London Street (rear on the 14th of September at 6:50 pm at Sears in the Station Mall and charged them both with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that they attended at the store on that date and stole some bottles of cologne. They are to appear in court on the 17th of October.

Property Crimes:

Theft and Break and Enter Reports:

A garage on Goetz Street was entered on the 14th of September – nothing was reported taken.

A number of lockers at a local high school were reported entered yesterday – several iPods were reported stolen. Male described as late 20’s early 30’s, dark hair wearing a blue shirt, jeans and a back pack.

Steel I-Beams and tie in plates were stolen from a business under renovations on Queen Street East.

Mischief Reports:

A business in the Bayview area had some outer walls spray painted.

A vehicle window was smashed in a parking lot in the 400 block of Northern Avenue.
