On October 19th around 4 pm the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which consists of members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section, the Ontario Provincial Police North East Region Crime Unit and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, executed a search warrant at a residence on Biggings Avenue with the assistance of patrol officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. Officers arrested 2 persons and located 1.1 grams of marijuana, 1 ecstasy tablet, 2 marijuana plants and 19 doses of LSD. The estimated street value of the drugs is $2500. During the execution of the warrant the female accused resisted officers by attempting to walk away and had to be restrained. When a female officer searched the accused female she found the LSD as well as a small amount of cannabis marijuana. Officers also seized $250 in cash from the residence. 19-year old Brian Bouchard of 179 Biggings Avenue has been charged with one count of production of a controlled drug or substance and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. He will appear in bail court this morning. 21-year old Katrina Holkko of 179 Biggings Avenue has been charged with one count of production of a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and one count of resist arrest. She will appear in court on November 21st.


Female Charged with Assault

A 20-year old female was arrested last evening and charged with one count of assault in regards to a domestic violence situation. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her boyfriend by punching him in the head area and attempting to strike him with her knee. The incident occurred in a downtown residence. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in court on November 30th.


Females Fight One Charged

Last evening 37-year old Leanne Dow of 101-536 Goulais Avenue was arrested and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused attempted to punch and kick at the female victim who is known to her. The assault took place on the 17th of October in the evening hours while to two were outside in a parking lot in the 500 block of Goulais Avenue. The accused will appear in court on November 21st.


Motor Vehicle Collision

Yesterday afternoon just after 1 pm City Police attended in the 1200 block of Great Northern Road for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A car operated by 34-year old Victoria Miron of 106 Third Line East was traveling northbound on Great Northern Road and was in the turn lane to make a left hand turn into a civic address. It is alleged that a car operated by 34-year old Domenico Reda of 6 Stevens Street was also traveling northbound on Great Northern Road and turned left into the turning lane as well but struck the Miron vehicle. The Reda vehicle received light damage and the Miron vehicle received moderate damage. Mr. Reda was taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Reda has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of unsafe lane change.
