The following two persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) A 55 year-old male was arrested on the 21st of November at 8:11 am at his downtown residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 21st of November around 2:30 am the accused got into a verbal argument with his common law spouse at their residence and assaulted her by pulling at her and kicking her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

2) 44 year-old Anita Nadon of #2-Main floor – 88 Wellington Street West was arrested on the 21st of November at 3:45 pm at her residence and charged with two counts of breach of a release document. It is alleged that the accused was found to be living at a different residence than specified in her recognizance release order and she was not residing with her surety.

Drug Bust

On the 21st of November at approximately 4:40 pm the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service along with the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which is comprised of members of the OPP Drug Enforcement Section, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the RCMP, and the OPP North East Region, executed a search warrant at 35 Boston Avenue. During the course of the search, officers located 129 grams of marihuana, 12.5 grams of cannabis resin, two oxycodone tablets and 35 seroquel tablets with a total estimated street value of $3,237.00. Offence related property was also located in the residence including three digital scales, cash and packaging materials.

As a result, 30 year-old Crystal O’Connor and 29 year-old Clinton Bailey of 35 Boston Avenue were arrested and charged with three counts each of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.
They are both to appear in court on the 7th of January 2008.

Possession

24 year-old Adam Shewchuk was arrested while in custody at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre on the 21st of November at approximately 7:50 pm and charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that the accused was found in possession of a small amount of cannabis resin. The accused is to appear in court on the 17th of December.
