GAS LEAK DOWNTOWN City Fire and Police were called out to a gas leak at 9:10 last evening in the area of 626 Queen Street East. Emergency crews evacuated people From businesses and apartments on the north side of Queen between East and Brock Streets.

City Fire and Police were called out to a gas leak at 9:10 last evening in the area of 626 Queen Street East. Emergency crews evacuated people From businesses and apartments on the north side of Queen between East and Brock Streets. Queen Street was closed from East to Brock as well. At 9:45, the gas company had the leak capped and the street was re-opened shortly after 10pm. The cause of the accident was a broken value on a ¾ inch pipe with 40 pounds per square inch of pressure.

BREAK AND ENTER ARREST
A 17-year-old female was arrested in connection with an October 22 break and enter to a St. George's Avenue East home where a VCR, cordless phone and a carton of cigarettes were stolen. She has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property and breach of probation. Two other people were already charged in this matter (Darrell Saunders, possession of stolen property, and a 16-year-old female charged with break and enter, possession, and breach of probation).
