Male Youth in Custody for Breaking into Two Homes in West End
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year-old male youth at approximately 3:48 am this morning and charged him with two counts of break and enter into a dwelling, two counts of theft, two counts of trespassing at night and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. At around 3 am this morning, officers received a call from a resident on Hood Street reporting that someone had just broken into the front porch of their residence and was attempting to get in the back door but fled when they let their dogs out. Patrol officers and the Canine Unit responded, a track commenced and officers were able to locate the suspect a short time later behind a residence on Wardell Avenue. Officers received a call a short time later from a resident on McQueen Road that had just woke up and discovered that their residence had been broken into as well and some liquor and food had been stolen. Officers continued the investigation and discovered that the accused broke into the McQueen Road home as well and had also gone through some vehicles in that area. The accused is currently in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

Shoplifting Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 20 year-old Jeremy Miller of 312 Gillies Street yesterday afternoon and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 17th of November at approximately 12:20 pm the accused attended at Zellers in the Station Mall, stole a jacket and fled the store. The accused was quickly apprehended by store security and police on Bruce Street. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 20 year-old Daniel Murphy of 160 Amber Street Street last night at the Cambrian Mall and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused attended at the Sport Check store just before 8 pm last night and stole some running shoes. The accused is to appear in court on the 20th of December.

Male Youth Arrested for Assault
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 13 year-old male yesterday afternoon and charged him with one count of assault, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 17th of November at approximately 1:00 pm the accused assaulted a fellow student while at a local school, threatened to kill him and then kicked a hole in a school wall. The accused is to appear in court on the 12th of December.

Thefts/Mischief
• Yesterday morning officers took a number of property crime reports in the west end of the city in the areas of Maki Road, Leigh’s Bay Road, Avery Road, Fourth and Third Line West, Allen’s Side Road and Henrietta Avenue. The reports included vandalism to property, a barn, garages, vehicles and thefts from vehicles. The crimes appear to have occurred overnight on the 16th-17th of November. A number of vehicles were entered as well and had items stolen from inside some included - iPods, cash and change, a gym bag, a garage door opener, bikes, sunglasses, jewellery, hunting gear and a 455-Ranncher Husqvarna chainsaw.
• A vehicle parked in a business parking lot in the 600 block of Queen Street East had a window smashed out and a purse that had been left inside was stolen.
• A vehicle parked in a parking lot in the 200 block of Northern Avenue had a window smashed out and cash left inside was stolen.
• A purse left on a bench in the Boardwalk area of St. Mary’s River Drive was stolen.
• A rock was thrown through a kitchen window of a residence in the 400 block of Albert Street West.
