Probation breach 22 year old Amy Solomon of Garden River First Nation was arrested in Garden River First Nation and transported to Sault Ste. Marie to face charges on an outstanding warrant for breach of probation.

22 year old Amy Solomon of Garden River First Nation was arrested in Garden River First Nation and transported to Sault Ste. Marie to face charges on an outstanding warrant for breach of probation.  She will appear in court on 17 Dec 2012.

Assault

A 30 year old male will appear in bail court tomorrow charged with assault stemming from a domestic incident today where it is alleged he choked his girlfriend.

Theft

A report of a theft from vehicle was received from the industrial park area that occurred on November 2, 2012. Stolen was an Ipod touch, Canon digital camera and change.

Drug Bust

On the 15th of Nov 2012 at approximately 1135 hours, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team and Emergency Services Unit executed a drug search warrant at the residence of Luigi Iachetta age 29 of 514 Wallace Terrace, Sault Ste. Marie. During the course of the search, officers located 65 grams of marihuana and a small amount of cannabis resin, various drug paraphernalia and cash.  He has been charged with two counts of a possession of a controlled substance and issued an appearance notice for a court date of 17 Dec 2012.

Rotary Santa Claus Parade

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service wishes to advise motorists to expect traffic disruptions in the downtown core on Saturday November 17, 2012 between the hours of 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, as a result of the Rotary Santa Claus Parade.

Bay Street will be closed from East Street to Pim Street, starting at 5:00 to 6:00 pm to allow for the staging of the parade floats.

Queen Street will be closed to traffic from Pim Street to Gore Street, starting at 5:30pm until approximately 8:00pm to facilitate the parade. Once the parade commences at 6:00pm no vehicles will be allowed to cross or drive on Queen Street with the exception of the parade participants.

No parking will be allowed on Queen Street between Pim and Gore Street after 4:00pm.  Cars not moved during the temporary parking ban will be towed for the safety of the parade participants and the viewing public.

During the time of parade drivers are reminded to use caution due to the large amount of pedestrians including excited children that will in the downtown area to enjoy the parade.

Shoplifting:

At 5:30pm on November 14th, 2012 39 year old Jeremy Meloche of 49 Borron Ave. Apartment #4 was arrested for shoplifting at Rome’s Grocer’s for allegedly stealing 3 cans of 5 hour energy drinks and 2 cans of cat food.

Mischief:

49 year old Craig Muddimer of 569 Queen Street West was arrested for mischief for damaging the door to a residence of an acquaintance. 

Robbery:

Police are investigating a robbery that occurred at Perfecto Pizza at 624 Wellington Street West at 10:40 pm on the 14th of November 2012.  2 males entered the establishment and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.  When an employee tried to intervene, one of the suspects produced a can of bear mace and sprayed the employee before fleeing the area on foot.  The first suspect is described as 6 feet tall and 200 lbs, the other suspect is described as shorter.  The employee was treated by ambulance at the scene and did not require further medical attention.
