Update to Armed Robberies at Mac’s Convenient Stores from overnight – Charges are as follows:

The two males that robbed the stores at knifepoint while wearing bandanas:
A 17 year-old male is charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of disguise with intent – face masked, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and six counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
A 16 year-old male is charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of disguise with intent – face masked, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and six counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and two counts of breach of a release document.
The two other 16 year-old males that allegedly fled on foot from the stolen van and were found in possession of the cigarettes that were stolen in the armed robberies, have been both charged with two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
All four are to appear in bail court on the 1st of November.

Female Arrested

A 33 year-old female was arrested on Queen Street East on the 1st of November at 2 am. It is alleged that on the 1st of November at around 1:30 am the accused was at a local bar when she got into a verbal argument with her boyfriend and punched him in the face. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

Wanted for Outstanding Warrants

A 33 year-old male was arrested on Douglas Street on the 1st of November at 4:40 am. It is alleged that city police stopped to check a vehicle on Douglas Street around 4:28 am and a check of the driver revealed that he was wanted on outstanding warrants for breaching his probation in regards to attending at his ex-girlfriend’s residence and harassing her in April and May of this year. The accused is on probation with conditions not attended at the victim’s residence, not to harass her and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He has been charged with three counts of breach of probation.

Youths Arrested for Connection to Break & Enter

City Police arrested two youths overnight in connection with a break and enter that occurred on the weekend of the 26th to the 27th of October to a new residence on Sunset Court that the homeowners were just days away from moving into. It is alleged that three youths broke into the home on Sunset Court and caused approximately $10,000.00 worth of damage to the home by throwing paint all over the walls, floors and windows of several rooms. Two windows were smashed and a hole was put in a wall.
A 13 year-old male youth was arrested on the 31st of October just after 7 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of break, enter and commit. He is to appear in court on the 4th of December. The 15 year-old male was arrested on the 1st of November at 12:15 am on Queen Street East and charged with one count of break, enter and commit and four counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. At the time officers located and arrested this youth he was found to be under the influence of alcohol, breaching his 8 pm – 6 am curfew and failing to keep the peace. He is to appear in bail court this morning.
City police know the identity of the third person that was involved and are continuing to try to locate the 15 year-old female.

Motor Vehicle Collision

1) City police attended to a motor vehicle collision on the 31st of October just before 3 pm that occurred on the Lake Street hill. No injuries were reported in this accident. It is alleged that a 44 year-old female operating a 2007 Ford Focus northbound on the Lake Street stopped her vehicle and was waiting for traffic to clear so that she could reverse into her driveway, when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 1997 Jeep that was northbound on Lake Street. Both vehicles received severe damage.
The 66 year-old driver of the jeep, Jan Hartog of 105 Lake Street was charged with one count of fail to turn out to left to avoid collision under the Highway Traffic Act.

2) City Police attended at an accident last night around 9:32 pm on Wellington Street East involving a vehicle and pedestrian. The accident involved a 15 year-old female that was struck by a 1995 GMC pick-up on Wellington Street East. The female was transported to hospital by ambulance for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The accident is still currently under investigation. There are no other details being released at this time.
