Motor Vehicle Collision results in Impaired Driving Charges

26 year-old Christopher Alberta of 297 McNabb Street (main) was arrested overnight at 2:24 am and charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 13th of May at approximately 2:12 am the accused was operating a 1999 Chevy Lumina eastbound on McNabb Street when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail, tree and then a pole at the intersection of Algoma Avenue. There were two passengers in the vehicle at the time of the collision that were transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Officers attended at the scene of the accident and found the driver, the accused to be under the influence of alcohol and he was subsequently charged. He is to appear in court on the 14th of June.

Male Arrested for Break and Enter

23 year-old Christopher Rowat of 4246B Highway 17 East, Echo Bay, Ontario was arrested on the 12th of May at 11:15 pm on Case Road and charged with break, enter and commit and one count of trespassing at night. It is alleged that around 10:40 pm last evening city police received a call regarding a pickup truck with a trailer attached inside the King’s Salvage and Auto Compound on Case Road and that persons were loading metal and auto parts onto it. When police arrived in the area of the compound, the three males fled on foot. One of the males, the accused, was quickly located and apprehended by officers with assistance from the Canine Unit. The other males were not located and the investigation is continuing. The accused is to appear in court on the 14th of June.

Female Arrested for Assault with a Weapon

21 year-old Tina Waboose of 23 Edinburgh Street was arrested on the 12th of May at 2:35 pm at her residence and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 9th and 11th of May the accused attended at the residence of a female known to her and assaulted her. During one of the incidents, the accused threw an ashtray at the victim causing non-life threatening injuries to her. The accused is to appear in court on the 14th of June.

Male Youth Arrested for Sexual Assault

A 15 year-old male youth was arrested on the 12th of May at 9:57 am at the city police station and charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 6th of May at a local high school, the accused touched a fellow female student t in an inappropriate sexual manner. At the time of then incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Motor Vehicle Collision with Injuries at Great Northern Road and McNabb Street

City Police and Fire Services responded to a motor vehicle collision yesterday morning at 10:15 am at the intersection of Great Northern Road at McNabb Street that sent one male driver that had to be extracted from his vehicle, to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. It is alleged that the driver of a Ford vehicle that was proceeding northbound on Great Northern Road failed to stop for the red light at McNabb Street and struck a Toyota vehicle that had been travelling eastbound on McNabb Street. The driver of the Ford, 42 year-old Sylvie Beaulieu of 1406 Third Line East, was charged with one count of fail to stop for red light under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
