The following two persons will be appearing in bail court this morning: 1. Devon Walsh, age 25, of no fixed abode. Ms Walsh was arrested yesterday afternoon after police were called to the Bel Air Motel regarding a disturbance.
The following two persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1. Devon Walsh, age 25, of no fixed abode. Ms Walsh was arrested yesterday afternoon after police were called to the Bel Air Motel regarding a disturbance. Upon investigating the disturbance it is alleged that the accused gave officers a false name to avoid being arrested on a warrant. The accused is now charged with one count of obstruct police and one count of breach of a recognizance.

2. A 39-year-old male was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of threatening death. It is alleged that last evening the accused called his ex-girlfriend and threatened to kill her.

Disturbance at the Bel Air Motel

At approx. 2:00 pm yesterday afternoon city police attended at the Bel Air Motel regarding a disturbance. While investigating the disturbance it is alleged that a 22-year-old female assaulted a police officer and obstructed officers in their investigation. Mary Morine, age 22, of no fixed address is charged with one count of assault police and one count of obstruct police. The officer was not injured in the assault. The accused will be appearing in court on June 2nd at 9:00 am.

Impaired Driver

At approx. 1:00 am this morning city police were advised of a possible impaired driver on Pim St. Police subsequently stopped a suspect vehicle and arrested the driver. Charged with one count of drive over 80 mgs is Marco Minelli, age23, of 941 North St. He will be appearing in court on June 2nd at 9:00 am.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is investigating two break and enters.

1) The New North Greenhouses was entered yesterday and a small amount of coin was stolen.

2) A residence in the 300 block of Albert St.W. was broken into - it is unknown at this time what was taken.

One attempted break and enter.

1) An attempted break and enter was reported to a residence in the 200 block of Korah Rd.

City police are investigating four mischief complaints.

1) Two youths were observed damaging a fence in the 100 block of Queen St. E.

2) Vandals damaged the sun roof of a vehicle parked in the 100 block of East St.

3) Two vehicles parked in the 100 block of Estelle St were spray painted last night.

Yesterday city police received one report of a stolen vehicle and one attempted theft of vehicle.

A 2000 Hyundai Accent 2-door-hatchback was stolen from the 200 block of Wallace Terr. An attempted theft was reported to a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Prentice Ave.

City police are reporting that bicycle thefts are on the rise.

Yesterday four bicycles were reported stolen. Bicycles were stolen from the 600 block of Lennox Ave, the 100 block of Foothill Rd and the 600 block of Goulais Ave. Register your bikes and keep them locked when you’re not using them.

Suspicious house fire at 314 Albert St. E.

On Tuesday, April 29th at approximately 4:45pm the Sault Ste Marie Police Service responded to a fire call at 314 Albert Street East. Upon Police arrival the Sault Ste Marie Fire Services were already on scene dealing with the fire to the building. The fire was contained within one apartment unit and the damage to the apartment unit is listed as moderate.

It is alleged that on April 29th at approximately 4:00 pm a tenant of the building, Michael Sawyer, made threats to harm the tenants, damage the property by setting fire to the building and to damage other property in the building. At this time it is not known why these threats were made. The incident is still under investigation by the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Investigative.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service has obtained a warrant for the arrest of Michael Sawyer on the following charges: one count of threatening to damage property by setting a fire, one count of mischief under $5000 and one count of threatening death.
Mike Sawyer, age 45, of 314 Albert Street East unit #11 is described as: Caucasian male, with brown/greying hair, brown eyes, 5’8” and 180lbs.
