Two People To Appear In Bail Court This Morning

47-year old Russell Barton of 2-413 Albert Street West was arrested yesterday morning by officers from the Street Team on an outstanding arrest warrant. Mr. Barton was wanted for one count of production of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon and one count of fail to appear for court. When officers arrested the accused they learned that the accused had allegedly failed to notify his change of address with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, which was a condition of a release order. Mr. Barton was also charged with one count of breach of a release order.

A 16-year old youth was arrested just before 2 am this morning and charged with 4 counts of breach of probation and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the accused and an adult female stole a high rail truck from the Huron Central Railway. The 2 accused persons were followed by employees from Huron Central as they left the rail yard. The accused persons were followed onto Bruce Street and were apprehended by these employees on March Street, when the accused persons attempted to flee from the stopped vehicle. The two accused were turned over to City Police on March Street.

Woman Charged For Involvment In Huron Central Railway Theft


24-year old Christina Wesley of 404 Wellington Street East was charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime for her involvement in the stolen high rail truck from Huron Central Railway. She was also charged with one count of breach of probation. She will appear in court on April 3rd.

The Joint Forces Drug Unit Nabs Another One

Yesterday afternoon officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which consists of members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the OPP Drug Enforcement Section, the RCMP and the OPP North East Region, executed a search warrant at 505 Cathcart Street. Officers located approximately 3.5 grams of cocaine, which has an estimated street value of $350. 44-year old Robert Barnes of no fixed address was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. He will appear in court on April 3rd.
