Drug Bust The Sault Ste Marie Police Service and the Joint Forces Drug Unit were busy again yesterday executing two Drug Search Warrants. The first warrant was executed at a residence in the 100 block of Alexandra St.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service and the Joint Forces Drug Unit were busy again yesterday executing two Drug Search Warrants.
The first warrant was executed at a residence in the 100 block of Alexandra St. The police entered this location at approx. 3:30 PM and upon entering they were greeted by the smell of burning marihuana. As a result three charged persons, 2 adults and a young person arrested. Further search of the residence result in the discovery of the following:

1. A baggie containing 5.4 grams of marihuana
2. A baggie containing 2.7 grams of marihuana
3. A baggie containing12 grams of Psilocybin
4. A baggie containing 36.5 grams of marihuana
5. Digital weight scales and misc. drug paraphernalia

One accused is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and two are charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. The adults will be appearing in court on April 18th at 9:00 AM. The young person will be appearing in court on April 19th at 9:30 AM.

More Possession Charges Laid

The second warrant was executed at 251 McNabb St. at 4:25 PM. It seems that the tenant of address was having a BAD DAY. At approx. 2:55 PM Harry Emdin attended at Rome’s Grocery Store where it is alleged that he stole approx. $ 80.00 worth of meat products. Upon exiting the store he was observed, by store security, leave in a vehicle. Police were then given the licence plate number. Subsequent investigation led patrol officers to attend at the accused person’s address at the same time as the drug unit officers. When the residence was searched officers located 71 marihuana plants growing in a closet. The accused, Harry Joseph EMDIN, age 48, of 251 McNabb St. is charged with Theft Under $ 5,000.00, Possession of a Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Production of a Substance. He will be appearing in court on April 18th at 9:00 A.M.

Impaired Driver Charged

At approx. 2:30 AM this morning City Police were called to the Canada Customs Office at 125 Huron St. in regards to an Impaired Driver. It is alleged that the accused, Diane Pelchat, was operating a vehicle that almost struck the inspection booth. Upon being spoken to by Canada Customs Officers it was noted that she was under the influence of alcohol. She was subsequently arrested and held for police. Charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over .80mgs is 39-year-old Diane Pelchat of 331 Sydenham Rd. She will be appearing in court on April 25th at 9:00 AM.

City Police received three reports of mischief in the past 24 hours.

Unknown persons using a paintball gun to damage a vehicle in the 100 block of Clergue St.

The Tiny Bubbles Shop located at 246 Queen St.E. had it’s front window broken by a beer bottle

Last night at approx. 12:05 AM. the Herb Lash Store located at 308 John St. also had its front window damaged

City Police also investigated a break and enter to the Canadian Commercial Flooring business located at 183 James St. Culprits used a prying tool to force the front door. It is unknown what was taken in this entry.
