1) Yesterday afternoon the city police were called to a residence in the west end regarding a domestic assault. It is alleged that the complainant’s common-law husband assaulted her by grabbing her by the arm and then shoving her into a table – causing her to strike her head against the table. The victim did not require medical attention. The accused, a 50-year-old male is charged with one count of assault.

2) Yesterday evening at approx. 6:00 pm city police were called to attend the area of Crawford Ave and Smale Ave. regarding a male being held for theft. It is alleged that the accused attended at People’s Jewelers, in the Cambrian Mall and while there he took a gold diamond ring, valued at $799.00 and a gold and diamond bracelet valued at $999.00. The accused then fled the store and was pursued by an employee of The Source Store. The accused was apprehended by the citizen at Crawford Ave and Smale Ave. It is further alleged that the accused then used a metal clamp to assault the arresting citizen in an attempt to escape. At the time of these offences the accused was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear for fingerprints. The accused was also on a probation order release. Michael Gingras, age 18, of No Fixed Address is charged with one count of robbery, one count of failing to appear for identification purposes and one count of breach of probation. The citizen suffered minor injuries to his hand and knee but did not require medical attention.

3) Early this morning a male attended at the city police station and turned himself in for outstanding warrant. The accused, Flint Mattinas, age 21, of No Fixed Address was arrested on several warrants. The warrants were for the following offences:
One count of break and enter – November 2006
One count of possession of property obtained by crime- November 2006
One count of fail to appear for court – December 2007
One count of fail to appear for court – January 2007.

Break and enter:

City police were called to a residence in the 600 block of MacDonald Ave yesterday evening regarding a break and enter. Resident reports that a quantity of cash was stolen.

City police were called to investigate eleven motor vehicle collisions yesterday.
