Youth Charged with Theft

At approx. 2:10 PM yesterday afternoon City Police were called to the Station Mall regarding a Trespasser. Upon arrival it was learned that a young person, who was on a Trespass Notice to stay away from the Station Mall, was Trespassing. A search of the accused revealed that the person had stolen property on their person. The youth was subsequently charged with Theft Under $ 5,000.00 and will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.

Domestic Dispute

At approx. 1:50 AM this morning City Police were called to attend at a domestic dispute at an address on Peoples Rd. It is alleged that the complainant’s 46-year-old boyfriend assaulted her by choking her. As a result the male was arrested and charged with Assault. He will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM. While completing their investigation the officers learned that the complainant was out on a Bail Release Document and on a Probation Order with conditions that she not consume alcohol. At the time of this investigation the complainant was in an intoxicated condition. The officers arrested her for Breaching Probation and Breaching An Undertaking. She will be attending Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.

Stolen Vechicle

City Police received a report of a stolen vehicle yesterday. Last night at approx. 11:15 PM a 1996 Ford Aerostar van, red in colour, was stolen from a residence in the 700 block of Old Goulais Bay Rd. Anyone seeing this vehicle is asked to contact the City Police.

Break and Enter

The Sault Ste Marie City Police are investigating 3 Break and Enters from the past 24 hours.

Culprits gained entry into a residence in the 100 block of Blake St. by going through the garage. Once inside the thieves stole a DVD player and a guitar. The guitar was subsequently recovered in a backyard on Hardiman Ave.

Yesterday morning unknown person(s) broke into the Showstoppers store located at 756 Queen St.E. by breaking the front door window. A small amount of change was stolen.

The Tower Street Coin Wash, at 27 Towers St., was also broken into yesterday. In this incident the front door was pried open and a small amount of change was stolen.
