Police Seek Assistance in Missing Person

Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Investigation Services Section are asking the public for any information on the whereabouts of Mark Lewis, age 18. Family and friends have not seen or heard from Mr. Lewis since the 4th of June 2007 at 1:30 pm at his residence on Goulais Avenue.

Mark Lewis is described as a thin white male, age 18, has short brown hair, brown eyes, 5’8’’ tall and 175 pounds.

Family members and City Police have been unable to locate this missing person and are concerned for his well being.

Female Charged with Assault

A 28 year-old female was arrested on the 6th of June just before 11 am at her downtown residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 6th of June at approximately 10:21 am the accused assaulted her husband at their residence by slapping him in the head a number of times. The accused is to appear in court on the 11th of July.

Credit Card Theft

34 year-old Barbara Towns of 33 St. Andrew’s Terrace was arrested on the 6th of June around 4:30 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of theft of a credit card, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of uttering forged document and one count of fraud. It is alleged that on the 1st of June the accused attended at the Beaver Gas Station on Korah Road in possession of a stolen credit card and knowingly used the card to purchase cigarettes. The accused then attended at Gus’s Pizza on Queen Street East and used the card to purchase some food. On both occasions the accused signed both receipts of the credit card transactions using the card owner’s name. The accused is to appear in court on the 9th of July.

Theft Under $5000

54 year-old Linda Hubbard of #702-621 MacDonald Avenue was arrested on the 6th of June just after 2 pm at the Station Mall and charged with one count of theft under $5.000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that on the 6th of June at 1:30 pm the accused attended at the San Francisco Store in the Station Mall on Bay Street and stole a blouse and two ceramic notebooks valued at $36.00. The accused was apprehended by Mall Security and held for police. The accused is to appear in court on the 16th of July.

Assault

40 year-old Darren McClelland of 18 Pine Island Road in Desbarats Ontario was arrested on the 6th of June around 12:23 pm on Trunk Road and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 6th of June around 9:45 am the accused, that was overseeing and supervising a home construction site on Willowdale Avenue became upset with a Ministry of Labour Inspector that was inspecting the construction site. An argument ensued over not following proper safety and security measures and it is alleged that the accused pushed the Inspector in the shoulder area. There were no injuries in this incident. The accused is to appear in court on the 9th of July.
