Robbery At Brookfield Last evening just after 10:35 pm officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at Brookfield Market for a robbery that had just occurred. A lone male suspect entered the store and robbed the clerk at knifepoint.

Last evening just after 10:35 pm officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended at Brookfield Market for a robbery that had just occurred. A lone male suspect entered the store and robbed the clerk at knifepoint. It does not appear that anything was taken in the robbery and the clerk did not receive any injuries. Officers from Patrol Services, Investigation Services and K-9 Unit searched the area for several hours with negative results. Officers from Investigation Services are continuing to investigate the robbery.

The suspect is described as a male, between 17-18 years of age, very thin build and approximately 5’6” tall. The suspect had his face covered with a balaclava and was wearing jeans and a jean shirt. The suspect fled north across Second Line West into a field area.

4 persons will appear in bail court this morning

1) A 34-year old male was arrested yesterday morning after City Police attended at a downtown residence for a domestic dispute. It is alleged that the accused attended at his ex-girlfriend’s address and grabbed her by her arm and attempted to pull her outside. The victim was able to stay inside the residence and lock the door. It is further allegedly that the accused kicked in the front door of the victim’s residence and once inside ripped the phone out of the wall. The accused left the area but later retuned and was arrested by officers. The male has been charged with one count of assault, one count of mischief under $5,000, one count of break and enter and commit an offence and one count of breach of probation.


2) A 47-year old male was arrested yesterday and charged with two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that between the 22nd and the 23rd of June the accused contacted his ex-girlfriend by leaving her messages on her answering machine. The accused was on probation with conditions not to communicate with the victim.

3) A 26-year old male was arrested and charged with one count of assault yesterday. It is alleged that on the 28th of June the accused assaulted his ex-girlfriend by pushing her several times, including one time into a building. The victim received non-life threatening injuries but did not require medical treatment. The incident occurred in the City’s west end last evening.

4) A 17-year old youth was arrested last evening just after 11 pm and charged with one count of assault and 4 counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused assaulted a 14-year old male victim by punching the victim. The incident occurred last evening. The accused was on probation orders at the time with terms including keep the peace and abide by an 11 pm curfew.

Break & Enters

City Police received 2 break and enter reports in the last 24 hours:

1) Yesterday morning a resident in the 1600 block of Wellington Street East reported their home had been entered but it appears that nothing was taken.

2) Yesterday afternoon a homeowner in the 900 block of Queen Street East reported that their home was entered sometime between 12 noon and 1:15 pm. A number of electronic products were taken.
