The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public's assistance in solving an arson that occurred on Bruce Street.

On May 26 between approximately 1:25 and 2 a.m. there were two fires set at a residence in the 100 block of Bruce Sreet.

The occupants were able to get out of the building.

An unknown male had been observed in the area.

The male is described as 16 to 17 years old, 5'6" to 5'7" tall, medium build, wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans and a black hat.

Cab Rammed By Another Vehicle

Early this morning, City Police responded to a call from a local cab company indicating that one of its vehicles had been rammed by another vehicle at Korah Road and Goulais Avenue.

When police arrived at the scene shortly after midnight, the cab driver pointed out a suspect vehicle stopped on Goulais.

Police approached that vehicle, spoke with the driver, and concluded that they had reasonable grounds to believe the driver might be impaired.

Jody Joseph Meyers, 27, of 807 Old Goulais Bay Road, has been charged with impaired driving, consuming over the legal limit and driving while prohibited.

He'll appear in court on July 4.

No one is believed to have been injured in the crash.

Pot Bust

On Wednesday, June 1, the OPP Joint Forces Drug Unit executed a search warrant at an address on McNabb Street in Sault Ste. Marie.

At that time, police seized 11 pounds of a marijuana with a street value of $102,000.

Also seized was $10,000 cash and a 2001 vehicle.

A 47-year-old Sudbury man was arrested and is currently being held in custdy pending a bail hearing.

The Ontario Provincial Police is continuing its investigation.

Neither the address nor the name of the accused individual were immediately available.
