Two Cabbies Robbed At Knife Point Just after 11:30 pm last night a cab driver from Checker Cab was robbed at knifepoint. The driver picked up a fare in the area of the Mac’s Mart on Gore Street.

Just after 11:30 pm last night a cab driver from Checker Cab was robbed at knifepoint. The driver picked up a fare in the area of the Mac’s Mart on Gore Street. It is alleged that while on Wellington Street West the male suspect pulled a knife on the driver and demanded money. A small undisclosed amount of money was handed over to the suspect who then fled from the cab. The suspect is described as being a white male, 5’10” tall, late 20’s to early 30’s with a skinny build and face. The male was clean-shaven and wore a brown waist length jacket. The driver was not harmed. The investigation is continuing into this matter. If you have any information regarding this robbery, contact City Police at 949-6300. Just after 6 am this morning a second cab driver was robbed at knifepoint. The cab driver from 7500 Taxi was in the area of John Street and Huron Street. The male suspect is described as being 6’ tall, wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans, and a ball cap. The suspect also had dirty blonde hair. The suspect made off with a small-undisclosed amount of money. The cab driver was not harmed. Few details are available at this time. This robbery is currently under investigation. Impaired Driver

Last evening just after midnight officers were traveling northbound on Great Northern Road when they observed a vehicle traveling ahead of them cross several lanes of traffic. In addition the vehicle was traveling at a slow rate of speed. Officers stopped the vehicle on Old Garden River Road and when the driver exited the vehicle it is alleged that he showed signs of impairment. 22-year old Robin Perks of 96 Panoramic Drive was arrested and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on July 17th.

Assault & Mischief

A 16-year old youth was charged last night with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of mischief under $5,000. It is alleged that yesterday the accused threw an egg at a female victim known to the accused and the egg damaged the clothing worn by the victim. The accused will appear in court on July 18th.

Break & Enters

City Police received three reports on break and enters yesterday:

1) Yesterday between 1 pm and 2 pm a home in the 300 block of Pim Street was entered and jewellery and an X-box were taken.

2) Between 12:30 pm and 3 pm yesterday a home in the 500 block of Pine Street was entered and stereo equipment was taken.

3) A vacant residence in the 300 block of Lake Street was entered last night around 6:30 pm. It is alleged that three male youths forced their way into the residence but were scared off by other persons in the area.

The Bear Facts

Yesterday City Police received two reports of bear sightings:

1) Around 8:30am yesterday morning a bear was seen in the area of Wallace Terrace and Allen’s Side Road.

2) Just after 1 pm yesterday there was a bear in the area of GP Flakeboard located at 657 Base Line Road.
