4:30PM Update : On the 14th June 2012, at approximately 1:00pm, officer attempted to arrest a male on outstanding warrants. A struggle ensued and the accused was arrested a few houses away.

On the 14th June 2012, at approximately 1:00pm, officer attempted to arrest a male on outstanding warrants. A struggle ensued and the accused was arrested a few houses away. The accused was arrest on the original warrant for breach of probation, along with the additional charges of escape custody and resist arrest. Accused was remanded in custody and will appear in bail court on the 15th June at 10:00am.

On the 14th June 2012, at approximately 12:45pm, Alaina St. John was observed walking on North St. She was arrest on outstanding warrants for: theft, possession of stolen property, fail to appear for prints and fail to appear court. Accused was printed and released with a court date of the 16th June 2012.

Morning Report:

Five people were arrested early this morning in relation to the theft of a significant amount of copper wire in the city of Sault Ste. Marie.

At approximately 3 o’clock this morning, officers with the Patrol Services Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were patrolling the area of Great Northern Road between Fifth Line and Schultz Road.  The patrols were stepped up in this area as it had been identified by police as a high risk area for copper wire thefts.

Once in the area, police found a vehicle parked in a conspicuous position off of the highway and as a result, began to check the area on foot.

About 250 yards from the edge of the tree line officers located what can be described as an elaborate camp site that contained a shack, a tent and a large fire pit. 

Located within the fire pit were three large wooden spools of copper wire.  The spools and the coating of the wire had been consumed by the fire.

Through investigation, officers found that the wire in question (over 700 meters) had been stolen from a construction company on Landslide Road, and then transported to this location. 

Four adults and one young offender were arrested at the scene.

20 year old Robert GRAHAM of 110 Constellation Place has been charged with;

  1. Theft over $5,000.00
  2. Mischief over $5,000.00
  3. Possession of Stolen Property

18 year old Dylan HOULE of 47 Maki Lake Road has been charged with;

  1. Theft over $5,000.00
  2. Mischief over $5,000.00
  3. Possession of Stolen Property

At the time of his arrest Mr. HOULE was also found to be on a probation order with a curfew and as a result has also been charged with Breach of probation X2.

18 year old Christina ANTOINE of 384 Morin Street has been charged with;

  1. Mischief over $5,000.00
  2. Possession of Stolen Property

18 year old Kayleigh BELSITO of 94 Allard Street has been charged with;

  1. Mischief over $5,000.00
  2. Possession of Stolen Property

One 17 year male old young person has been charged with;

  1. Theft over $5,000.00
  2. Mischief over $5,000.00
  3. Possession of Stolen Property

At the time of his arrest this young person was found to be bound by a Youth Criminal Justice act probation order with conditions that he keep the peace and be of good behavior.  As a result, the youth was additionally charged with 2 counts of breach of probation.

Frank Caicco, Age 47 of 37 Raymond Street, was arrested for break and enter, theft of a credit card, possession of a stolen credit card and attempting to use a stolen credit card. It is alleged that the accused broke into a residence on Leigh’s Bay Road and stole the credit card in question. The accused then attempted to use the card at a local bank. Caicco will appear in bail court on June 14, 2012 at 10:00am.

Roland Julian Periard, age 27 of 20 Grosvenor Avenue, was arrested for attempt break and enter, mischief and assault X 2.  It is alleged that the accused attempted to break into a local business and in doing so broke the window. The accused was apprehended by two business owners and while waiting police arrival a struggled between the two business owners and the accused Periard occurred.  The accused broke free but was later arrested by police.  The accused will appear in bail court on June 14, 2012 at 10:00am.

Dwayne Guy, age 45 of 1052 Wellington Street East, was arrested on outstanding warrants. The accused is charged with failing to attend court, breach of probation and break and enter. The accused will appear in bail court on June 14, 2012 at 10:00am.

Break and Enters/Other Property Crimes:  

  • Break and enter to a shed in the 100 block of Rossmore Road. A blue 125 Yamaha motor bike taken.
  • Break in to a trailer in the 800 block of MacNabb Street – tools taken
  • Theft from a vehicle in the 800 block of Trunk Road – insurance and permit taken.
  • Theft from a vehicle in the 200 block of McNabb Street – Iphone taken.

Bear sightings in the area of Strathclair Farm area and on Anna Street.
