The following five persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) A 27 year-old male was arrested on the 13th of June just after 12 pm at a central area residence and charged with one count of assault, three counts of breach of probation and three counts of breach of a restraining order under the Family Law Act. It is alleged that the accused attended at his ex-wife’s central area residence and assaulted her by pushing her several times. The victim received injuries not requiring medical attention. At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order and a Family Law Act restraining order all having the same conditions that the accused keep the peace and be of good behaviour, not communicate directly or indirectly with the victim, not attend within 100 meters of her residence and not to harass or annoy the victim.

2) A 51 year-old male was arrested on the 13th of June just after 8 pm at a west end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 9th of June around 6 pm the accused attended at his ex-girlfriend’s west end residence and assaulted her by grabbing at her and pulling her. The victim injured her ankle when attempting to get away from the accused, but did not require medical attention.

3) On the 13th of June around 9:15 pm, a 40 year-old male was located at his girlfriend’s central area residence and arrested on an outstanding domestic assault warrant. The accused is charged with one count of assault and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 13th of April around 11 am the accused attended at his girlfriend’s central area residence and assaulted her by pushing her and shoving her to the ground. The victim struck her head on a coffee table and received injuries not requiring medical attention. At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. Officers also discovered that the accused had moved from his previous address and he was on probation conditions to notify city police of change of address and he had failed to do so.

4) A 43 year-old male was arrested in Sudbury on outstanding warrants held by Sault Ste Marie Police Service. City police attended in Sudbury to pick up and take custody of the accused after being contacted by Sudbury Police who located and arrested the male there on the outstanding warrants. The accused has been charged with one count of assault in relation to a domestic incident, one count of breach of a release document and one count of cause a disturbance.

5) 23 year-old Joshua Wilson of no fixed address was arrested on the 13th of June just after 3 pm on outstanding charges for robbery and assault with a weapon. The accused was located and arrested at the Sault Ste Marie O.P.P. station where he was in custody on other matters. It is alleged that on the 2nd of June around 10:25 pm the accused entered an east end apartment of a male known to him while carrying a knife. The accused then assaulted the victim by punching him in the head and face area and left the residence. The victim received non-life threatening injuries.
It is further alleged that during the early morning hours on the 5th of June the accused attended at the residence of another male that was known to him while holding a bottle. The accused advised the male and another male friend that was over visiting at the time, that he would smash and stab them with the bottle. It is alleged that the accused then stole an X-Box video game system belonging to the resident and threatened the two males that if they called the police he would shoot them with a gun that he had. The accused then fled on foot. There was no gun observed and there were no injuries reported.

Theft from The Knights Inn

On the 13th of June just after 11 am City Police attended at the Knights Inn on Pim Street in relation to a complaint of a theft of a television from one of the rooms. Information was received that two or three males may be involved and one of them and had just left walking north on Great Northern Road. It is alleged that upon arrival city police located one of the males fitting the description, carrying a garbage bag that contained a loaded semi automatic handgun.

Police located the other two males at the Knights Inn. It is further alleged that when dealing with the males, one of them was found to be in possession of approximately one gram of cocaine with a street value of $100.00. While officers were dealing with the other male accused, it is alleged that the accused kicked the entry door to the Knights Inn, breaking the glass and causing approximately $200.00 in damages.

The following three males have been arrested and charged:
(1) 42 year-old Michael Cuglietta of 761 Shafer Street was arrested on the 13th of June just after 11 am on Pim Street and charged with one count of possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition, one count of unauthorized possession a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm knowing possession unauthorized, one count of weapon concealed and one count of careless use or storage of firearm, breach of regulations. He is to appear in court on the 23rd of July

(2) 37 year-old Kevin Smith of 208A Carlton Street in Cornwall Ontario is charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. He is to appear in court on the 23rd of July.

(3) 44 year-old Richard Neil of #136-744 Bruce Street in Sudbury Ontario is charged with one count of mischief under $5,000.00. He is to appear in court on the 23rd of July.

There was one report of a break and enter yesterday afternoon.

A residence on Spruce Street was entered sometime after 8 am. The bedrooms were ransacked. It is not known if anything was taken.
