Assault A 49-year old female was arrested yesterday last evening and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the female assaulted her husband by striking him in the face.

A 49-year old female was arrested yesterday last evening and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the female assaulted her husband by striking him in the face. The assault occurred on the 5th of July at their downtown residence. The victim did not require medical treatment for his non-life threatening injury. The accused will appear in court on August 9th.

Jacket Theft

Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are investigating the theft of a jacket valued at $300. A male entered the Sabres Store located in the Cambrian Mall at 44 Great Northern Road yesterday afternoon around 1:30 pm. It is alleged that the male fled the store with a red Budweiser-Dale Earnhardt jacket. The suspect is described as being a white male, in his 30’s, 6’ tall, husky build, approximately 220 pounds and had a medium complexion. At the time of the theft the suspect was wearing a dark t-shirt and long pants. The male left the Mall running through the Bank of Montreal. Attempted Break & Enter

Yesterday City Police received a report of an attempt break and enter into a residence in the 600 block of Wallace Terrace.

Fire
Last evening around 5:30 pm City Police attended in the 1300 block of Third Line East and assisted with traffic control while the Sault Fire Services responded to a call of a fire at that address.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Officers from Traffic Services have completed their investigation into a motor vehicle collision involving a train and a vehicle that occurred on July 4th at 10:30 pm. It is alleged that a vehicle operated by 64-year old female from Sault Ste. Marie was traveling northbound on John Street. It is alleged that the driver failed to stop at the railway crossing and was struck by a westbound Huron Central train. The vehicle was struck by the train and was pushed sideways into a ravine where it rolled down. Fortunately no one was hurt in the incident. The driver of the vehicle has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of disobey railway crossing signal-fail to stop.
