VERY PUBLIC ARREST ON WELLINGTON STREET
Yesterday at 8:00 am the accused, Raymond Gregoire, age 20 of 217 Beverly Street, was allegedly observed in the Ministry of Natural Resources Building at 64 Church Street going through a purse belonging to a person there. When the female attempted to restrain him, he punched her in the shoulder and fled the area with a small quantity of cash.

The accused fled in a blue van that was later reported stolen. At 9:05 am patrol officers, assisted by the K-9 unit, tracked the accused to a residence on Wellington Street East where he was found hiding in a boat in the yard.

When the accused was arrested he struggled with the police officers. No serious injuries were reported. The accused has been charged with Robbery, Possession of Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest. He will appear in bail court today.


SINGLE MARIHUANA PLANT BRINGS CHARGES
Yesterday at 11:00 am, patrol officers were called to a home on Queen Street West where they located a marijuana plant growing in one of the rooms. No street value for the seizure is available.

Officers seized this plant and arrested and charged both Jennifer Southwind, age 32 and Brown Southwind, age 28 of 660 Queen Street West with Cultivation of a Controlled Drug. They will appear in bail court today.


YOUTH ARRESTED FOR BREACH OF PROBATION
On Tuesday at about 2:20 pm, a 14-year-old male failed to appear at the city police station for the purpose of fingerprints. At this time he was also on conditions to reside with his family at their home.

He left the home on Sunday, July 27th, and did not return. On July 30th his family found him at a corner store in the west end of the city and police were called. At 6:00 pm the youth was arrested and charged with Breach OF Probation will appear in court in early September.


MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
On the 25th of July at approximately 11:30 pm, following a domestic disagreement, the accused, a 53-year-old male assaulted his girlfriend by throwing her to the floor where she struck a metal step.

The assault occurred at the residence of the accused. Injuries were deep bruising to the right shoulder and torso area. The victim received treatment for the injuries at the Sault Area Hospitals.

Yesterday at 7:00 pm, patrol officers arrested and charged the male with Assault. He will appear in court on Sept. 8th.


BREAK & ENTER
Patrol officers were called to investigate one break and enter yesterday. Shortly after 8:00 pm, a resident of Beverly Street called police and advised that between 5 and 7 pm an unknown person broke into their residence and stole a guitar.
