Two Persons to Appear in Bail Court

1) Yesterday afternoon city police arrested a 26-year-old male on a warrant for one count of threatening and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on June 30th the accused contacted his ex-girlfriend and at that time threatened to kill her.

It is further alleged that after being remanded into custody by a Justice of the Peace, at the court house, the accused attempted to escape from custody. The accused has been charged with one count of threatening, one count of attempt to escape custody and two counts of breach of probation. At the time of this offence the accused was on a probation order release with conditions to keep the peace and not to communicate with the female victim.

2) A 48-year-old male was arrested early this morning and charged with assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on July 2nd at approx. 9:30 pm the accused assaulted his common-law girlfriend by striking her several times to the head with a wrench. The assault resulted in the victim suffering several deep cuts to the top and rear of her head. The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The accused is charged with one count of assault with a weapon causing bodily harm. The incident occurred at the common-law residence of the victim and accused.

Male Arrested for Theft

Yesterday afternoon city police arrested a male and charged him with twenty (20) counts of theft under
$ 5,000.00. It is alleged that between May 13th and June 22nd 2008 the accused stole various food items from Joe’s No Frills - 519 Korah Rd. At the time of these offences, the accused who was employed as a cleaner was observed by surveillance cameras stealing the items. The estimated value of the stolen items is approx.
$738.00.

Frank Small, age 49, of 490 Parliament St. is charged with 20 counts of theft under $ 5,000.00. He will be appearing in court on Aug.11th at 9:00 am.

Break and Enters

City police investigated two reports of break and enter yesterday.

1. The St. Vincent De Paul building, located at 322 Cathcart St. was broken into and a safe was entered. A small amount of money was taken.

2. The East Korah Maxwell United Church, located at 4 Fourth Line E. was entered - religious items were stolen.

Mischief

City police received four complaints of mischief overnight. Vehicles parked in the 100 block of Beech St and the 100 block of St. Mary’s Ave were damaged. Patio furniture was thrown into a pool at a residence in the 700 block of Wellington St. W. A vacant apartment was damaged in the 700 block of Wellington St. E.

Theft

City police received theft complaints from:

1. a residents in the 100 block of Princess Cres.- items stolen from a vehicle

2. a residence in the 1300 block of Third Line E - a lap top was stolen from a vehicle.

3. two bicycles were stolen from a home in the 400 block of Charles St.

4. Two males, in their 30’s were seen stealing a mini four wheeler from the San Francisco Store in the Station Mall. The suspects were last seen heading toward the city bus terminal.
