Yesterday evening members of the C.O.R.E. Street Team arrested four females actively soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.

It is alleged that at approximately 5:00 pm yesterday Lee-Ann Perrault, age 32, of 1675 Queen St.E. Unit #3 solicited an undercover police officer, by offering sex in exchange for money. It is further alleged that at the time of this offence the accused was on probation. Ms. Perrault is charged with one count of soliciting for the purpose of prostitution and one count of breach of probation She will be appearing in court on Aug 30th at 9:00 am.

It is alleged that at approximately 6:00 pm yesterday Krystal Hart, age 25, of 130 Gore St. main floor, solicited an undercover police officer, by offering sex in exchange for money. It is further alleged that when officers searched her purse they located a loaded syringe containing morphine. Ms. Hart is charged with one count of soliciting for the purpose of prostitution and one count t of possession of a controlled substance. She will be appearing in court on Aug 30th at 9:00 am.

It is alleged that at approximately 8:00 pm yesterday Shelbie Zaldiner, age 18 of 142 Albert St. E solicited an undercover police officer, by offering sex in exchange for money. Ms. Zaldiner is charged with one count of soliciting for the purpose of prostitution. She will be appearing in court on Aug 30th at 9:00 am.

It is alleged that at approximately 7:30 pm yesterday Lindsay Perrault, age 27, of 142 Albert St. E. Apt# 3 solicited an undercover police officer, by offering sex in exchange for money. It is further alleged that upon being arrested the accused resisted arrest and assaulted the two arresting officers and then damaged the police car. Further when the accused was brought to the police station it is alleged that she assaulted a third officer by kicking him. Ms. Perrault is charged with one count of soliciting for the purpose of prostitution, one count of resist arrest, three counts of assault police and one count mischief. She will be appearing in bail court this morning.

These arrests were made as a result of complaints brought to the Sault Ste Marie Police Service by concerned citizens. It is believed that there are still others participating in these offences. The Sault Ste Marie Police Service C.O.R.E. will continue enforcement of these types of offences.

These offences occurred in the downtown area of Sault Ste Marie.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service C.O.R.E. (Community Oriented Response Enforcement) Unit was created to address problems brought forth by the community. The C.O.R.E. actions are a direct result of concerns made by the citizens of Sault Ste Marie.


Three persons to appear in bail court

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service “Street Team” arrested a 25-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance, failing to comply with a recognizance and several warrants. It is alleged that while the “Street Team” was executing a search warrant at an address in the 900 block of Queen St. E. the officers located the accused at that location and arrested him for the outstanding warrants. It is further alleged that when the accused was searched officers located 5.8 grams of marihuana on the accused. Christopher Duclose, age 25, of no fixed address is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of failing to appear for court, two counts of breach of a recognizance and warrants for possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and two breaches of a recognizance.

Last night members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 29-year-old female for possession of controlled substances, breach of an undertaking and breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused was arrested by city police officers for breaching conditions of her undertaking release order by failing to notify a change of address. It is further alleged that when she was searched officers located 100 cc.s of morphine in her purse and a capsule of dextroamphetamine. At the time of these offences the accused was also on probation. Christina Wesley, age 29, of no fixed address is charged with one count of breach of an undertaking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of breach of probation.

This morning members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 22-year-old male for mischief and breach of a recognizance. It is alleged that early this morning the accused attended at the residence of his girlfriend and damaged a window at her home. It is further alleged that at the time of his arrest the accused was on a recognizance release order with conditions to notify any change of address. The accused is charged with one count of mischief and one count of breach of a recognizance.

Male arrested for assault

Yesterday members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 21-year-old male for assault. It is alleged that on March 11th, 2010 the accused assaulted a female, known to him, by punching and spitting on her. The victim did not require medical attention. Michael Sylvestre, age 21, of 751 Pine St. Apt 214, is charged with one count of assault. Mr. Sylvestre will be appearing in court on Aug 30th at 9:00 am.

Theft

A bicycle was stolen from the 400 block of Great Northern Rd. A vehicle was entered in the 100 block of Upton Rd. Cash was taken.

Mischief

A home in the 100 block of Elmwood Ave was damaged.
