Three persons to appear in bail court: Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 23-year-old male for assault, threatening, theft and several breaches.

Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 23-year-old male for assault, threatening, theft and several breaches. It is alleged that the accused attended at his girlfriend’s residence and assaulted her. It is further alleged that the then threatened to kill her and stole her house keys before leaving the residence. At the time of these offences the accused was on a recognizance release order with conditions to not molest or annoy the victim and also to not be outside his residence after 8:00 pm. The victim did not require medical attention for her injuries. The accused is charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening death, one count of theft under $ 5,000 and three counts of breach of a recognizance.

On Tuesday July 26th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested two males for attempt break and enter and attempt theft. It is alleged that the two males attempted to break into a business in the 100 block of Gore St. It is further alleged that the two also attempted to steal a bicycle. Police attended the area and located and arrested the two suspects. Jason Solomon, age 32, of 864 Queen St. E. Apt # 7, is charged with one count of attempt break and enter, one count of attempt theft under $ 5,000 and one count of breach of a recognizance. It is further alleged that this accused was in possession of three codeine tablets and as a result was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. The second male, Alec Lewis, age 19, of 293 Wellington St. W. Apt # 1, is charged with one count of attempt break and enter, one count of attempt theft under $ 5,000 and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon. It is alleged that upon his arrest officers located a knife on the accused that opened by use of centrifugal force.

A vehicle was damaged in the 100 block of McFadden Ave.

Theft:

A purse was stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Boston Ave.
Cash was stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of Old Goulais bay Rd.
An IPod and CDs were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Breton Rd.
Three bicycles were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Wilcox Ave.
A silver coloured KHS adult tricycle was stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Knox Ave.
Two youths were seen attempting to enter vehicles in the 600 block of MacDonald Ave. The suspects are described as being in their teens, one was wearing a green shirt the second male was wearing a blue and white shirt and a purple and yellow hat.

Notice to Public:

Yesterday the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received numerous calls in regards to computer scams. This latest fraud involves a person identifying themselve as an employee of the Microsoft Corp. The caller then advises the victim that they have discovered a problem with the victim’s computer and that it can be repaired. The suspect goes on to request a credit card number for the repairs. These types of calls are FRAUDS; do not give out any of your personal information to anyone over the phone unless you initiate the call.
If your phone has call display take down the in-coming phone number and advise the caller you will get back to them. Then call police with the information. To prevent these types of occurrences always deal with a trusted service.
