Stolen Truck Pursuit

City police were also involved in a short pursuit around 6 am this morning involving a stolen truck. City police were called by the owner of the stolen vehicle just before 6 am advising that her 1992 white Ford pick-up had just been stolen from her driveway on Old Goulais Bay Road. Police on patrol in the area observed the pick-up proceeding southbound on Great Northern Road near Third Line east and attempted to stop it. The driver did not stop and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle was pursued westbound on Second Line East to Carmen’s Way where the 16 year-old driver lost control when attempting to turn left onto Carmen’s Way. The truck struck the curb and came to rest in the grassy area on the south-west corner of Carmen’s Way and John Street. The two male occupants, the 16 year-old driver and an 18 year-old passenger in the vehicle were not injured and were both arrested. The vehicle sustained moderate damage to the front end. It is further alleged that officers from Patrol and Investigation Services furthered their investigation and discovered that the two were also responsible for stealing numerous sets of keys earlier from a pick-up truck at Muskoka Delivery on Wilson Street sometime overnight on this same date, used a set of the keys and stole a Muskoka Delivery 1 ton cube van. The van was driven to the north end of Old Goulais Bay Road and intentionally driven into a steel I-beam of the bridge causing approximately $10,000.00 damage to the van and bridge. It is alleged that the two then stole the white pick-up that was involved in the pursuit. The investigation is continuing.

The following two persons will be appearing in bail court this morning:

1) A 25 year-old male was arrested on the 26th of July at 2:30 am at his west end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused got into an argument with his girlfriend at her east end residence, pushed her to the ground and attempted to choke her. No injuries were reported.

2) 26 year-old Sara McCulloch of 258 Dryden Avenue was arrested on the 25th of July just before 10 pm on Letcher Street and charged with one count of assault with a weapon; one count of assault peace officer and one count of resist or obstruct peace officer. It is alleged that the accused while at a west end bar at around 9 pm last night, became upset with an employee and struck the employee in the face with a beer bottle. No injuries were reported at the time. When the accused was being arrested it is alleged that she struggled with the officers and kicked them.

Impaired Driving Charges Dropped

36 year-old Stephanie Murray-Hall was originally arrested on scene for impaired driving, however once brought to the station and after a breathalyzer test was conducted, she was release unconditionally with no court date appearance due to a reading below the legal limit. It is alleged that the accused was driving her ford explorer eastbound on Tallack Boulevard when she lost control of the vehicle, swerved into the ditch and the vehicle rolled over as a result. When officers attended they discovered the accused to be under the influence of alcohol. There was one male passenger in the vehicle and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle received moderate damage. She is to appear in court on the 10th of September.
