DRUG BUST Yesterday around 2 pm officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit made a large seizure of narcotics. Officers stopped a vehicle towing a boat on Great Northern Road between 3rd and 4th Line East and located 212 marijuana plants in the boat.

Yesterday around 2 pm officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit made a large seizure of narcotics. Officers stopped a vehicle towing a boat on Great Northern Road between 3rd and 4th Line East and located 212 marijuana plants in the boat. The street value of the narcotics seized is estimated at $106,000.

One of the males also had a small quantity of marijuana on his person when searched upon arrest. All four have been charged with one count of production of a controlled drug or substance and one count of possession for the purposes of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.

The four accused are: Joseph Kennedy, age 30 of Vancouver, BC; 26-year old James Brazeau of Sturgeon Falls, ON; Terry Coleman, age 31, of Sturgeon Fall, ON and Louis Lafond, age 22, also of Sturgeon Falls. James Brazeau also faces one additional count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. All four will appear in bail court this morning.


CAUGHT IN THE ACT
Around 2:30 am this morning, alert patrol officers observed two males walking in a laneway that runs parallel to Queen Street and is also between Queen and Albert.

Officers left their patrol vehicle and followed them on foot. They were seen entering two yards in the 100 block of Albert Street East where they attempted to open garage doors. They were not able to gain entry to the garages, but did enter a vehicle parked in the same block and removed several items. Both were taken into custody and the property recovered.

18-year old Jan Currie of 3-124 Andrew Street and 18-year old Luke Couturier of 2-140 Woodward Avenue have each been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of trespassing by night. They will both appear in court on August 30th.


BREAK AND ENTERS
Last evening officers from the problem oriented policing team arrested two persons who were in possession of property stolen from a break and enter that had been reported to the police on the 6th of July. On the 9th of July City Police arrested 21-year old Chantal Cyr of 68 August St and charged her with break and enter and possession of property obtained by crime, along with a 15 and 16 year old. Those youths were also charged with break and enter, the 15-year-old was also charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and the 16-year-old had been charged with one count of breach of probation. Last evening 18-year-old Renee Cyr of 68 August Street was arrested along with a 17-year-old youth and each was charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime after being in possession of stolen jewellery. The youth appears in court on August 31st and Renee Cyr has a court date of August 30th.

Yesterday City Police received a report of a garage being entered in the central area of town. Taken from the garage was an undisclosed amount of money that had been in a vehicle as well as a $3,000 bike. The bike is a Giant XTC NRS series mountain bike with dual suspension, 24 speed and is red and yellow in color. ACCIDENT SENDS YOUTH TO HOSPITAL
Officers from the Traffic Services Section are following up on an accident with injuries that occurred yesterday around 4 pm in the 4000 block Second Line West.

A pickup truck being operated by 36-year-old Jose Vaz of 18 Laird was pulling out of driveway on Second Line West when a youth operating a motorbike came along on a pathway that runs parallel to Second Line West and also crosses the driveway Mr. Vaz was on when the bike and truck collided.

The youth was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of injuries received at the time. No charged have been laid at this time.
