The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind all cyclists to ride safely. The following are a list of tips to help keep you safe while you bike ride.

1) Protect your head by always wearing a helmet.
2) Wear bright clothing during the day.
3) Avoid biking at night.
4) Stay alert and always keep watch for obstacles in your path.
5) Always be aware of the traffic around you.
6) Learn the rules of the road and obey all traffic laws.
7) Check your bike over before riding it.
8) Always ride single file.

City Police investigated two break and enters yesterday.

1) Hollywood Limousine at 208 St. Mary’s River Drive was broken into between 11:30pm and 12:30am last night. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

2) The Armories at 375 Pine Street was broken into between 4pm on the 17th of July and 7:30am on the 18th of July. An undisclosed amount of money and keys were taken.

Youth Charged with Assault

Officers arrested a 13year old boy yesterday morning just after 9am. It is believed that on the 11th of July the accused was at Littner Park at 98 Park Street where he decided to assault another boy by punching him about the face numerous times. The victim did not require medical attention. The accused in this incident has been charged with 1 count of assault and is to appear in court on the 21st of August.

Domestic Assault

A 35 year old male has been charged in a domestic related incident. It is believed that on the 18th of July just after 5pm the accused was having a phone conversation with his ex-wife when he threatened to assault her with a bat. City Police arrested the accused last night just after 11pm. The accused has been charged with 1 count of threatening death or bodily harm. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.
