UPDATED HOMICIDE RELEASE The post mortem on murder victim Joseph Reed was completed on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in Sudbury. The Sault Ste Marie Police are waiting for the coroner’s final report on the specific cause of death.
UPDATED HOMICIDE RELEASE

The post mortem on murder victim Joseph Reed was completed on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 in Sudbury.
The Sault Ste Marie Police are waiting for the coroner’s final report on the specific cause of death. At this time police believe that a knife was used during the attack and the death was as a result of multiple stab wounds.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is working closely with the Crown Attorney’s office and continuing the investigation into this homicide.

This is a serious occurrence and the police will not be releasing any further information at this time in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation.

Two Females Arrested as a result of Domestic Related Incidents:

1) A 29 year-old female was arrested on the 7th of January at 5:41 pm at her residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on the 7th of January at approximately 11 am the accused got into a verbal argument with her husband at their residence and assaulted him by punching him, pulling his hair and scratching him. The accused also picked up a hammer and swung it at him. She is to appear in bail court this morning.

2) A 19 year-old female was arrested on the 7th of January at 6:08 pm at an east end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 7th of January at approximately 5:40 pm while in a local coffee shop, the accused assaulted her ex-boyfriend by slapping him in the face. She is to appear in court on the 11th of February.

Female Arrested for Frauds:

39 year-old Tammy Bovingdon of 286 Doncaster Road was arrested on the 7th of January at 9:10 pm at the city police station and charged with six counts of fraud. It is alleged that the accused, while working as an employee at Home Depot, falsely fabricated returns and pocketed the money, totaling $189.09 on six different occasions from October to December, 2008. She will appear in court on the 9th of February.

A number of vehicles were entered overnight in the areas of Country Club Place, Shannon Road, Caddy Avenue, Gravelle Street, St. George’s Avenue and one in the parking lot Algoma’s Water Tower Inn. Several items were stolen including, hockey sticks, credit card, cash, an IBM Laptop and a cell phone.
