The following three persons are to appear in bail court this morning:

1) An 18 year-old male was arrested at his residence on the 21st of January at 1:34 pm on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm, one count of breach of release document and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the evening of the 17th of January the accused was at a party at a west end residence drinking with several persons when he got into a verbal argument with his 19 year-old sister and assaulted her by punching her several times in the face, throwing her to the ground and kicking her in the face and head. The victim received non-life threatening injuries requiring medical attention as a result.

2) 21 year-old Norman Lund of 150 Spadina Avenue was arrested on the 21st of January at 9:23 pm was arrested on Goulais Avenue and charged with one count of breach of a release document. At approximately 9:12 pm last night, city police were called to the 200 block area of Goulais Avenue regarding a male that was riding a dirt bike and doing donuts all over the road. When officers arrived they located the male on the sidewalk of Goulais Avenue still on the bike. When they ran a check of the male they discovered that he was on a recognizance order with curfew conditions to be in his residence 8 pm to 7 am daily.

3) City police attended in Hamilton, Ontario yesterday morning to arrest a male that was wanted on warrants by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service for failing to appear in court in May 2008 regarding several threat charges.
27 year-old Richard Lewis of 10 Munn Street Hamilton, Ontario was arrested at 8:30 am and escorted back to the Sault to be held for bail court this morning.

Students from Local High School Charged with Criminal Harassment:

Three youths ranging from ages 14-16 were arrested yesterday afternoon at a local high school as result of ongoing harassment towards a fellow student. Two females and one male were all charged with one count of criminal harassment and will appear in court on the 24th of February. It is alleged that since September the three youths have continuously called the victim several names and made threats to beat her up when she gets off the school bus. The three accused youths had been previously warned by police to stop the harassment but did not.

Male Student Charged with Trafficking Drugs at Local High School:

A 15 year-old male youth was arrested at a local high school on the 21st of January at 2:50 pm and charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that on the 21st of January around 12:10 pm the accused, a student of the school, sold marihuana to fellow students in the parking lot of the school. The youths began to smoke the drugs when confronted by a staff member. The accused was arrested for trafficking and will appear in court on the 24th of February. Four youths, ages 14 - 15, that smoked and were found in possession of the drugs were all dealt with under the Youth Criminal Justice Act Diversion Program.

Female Charged with Breaching Released Document:

64 year-old Amelia Sicoli of 40 Cabot Crescent was arrested on the 21st of January at 5:55 pm on John Street and charged with one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 21st of January the accused called a male person that she had just been placed on undertaking conditions the previous day not to communicate with due to an assault incident. She will appear in court on the 2nd of March.

Female Shoplifter Charged:

19 yer-old Dyan Roy of 1000 Pine Street was arrested on the 21st of January at 6:30 pm at Sears in the Station Mall and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 21st of January just at approximately 5:30 pm the accused and another unidentified male attended at Sears and stole some jewellery. Both attempted to flee on foot. The female was apprehended by store security and held for police. The male was able to get away. Police are attempting to identify the suspect. The female accused is to appear in court on the 23rd of February.

Youth Charged with Mischief and Threatening at Local Youth Residence:

A 14 year-old male youth was arrested at a local Youth Residence on the 21st of January at 5:10 pm and charged with one count of mischief and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 21st of January around 5 pm while at the Youth Residence the accused threatened to kill and punch a staff member in the face. The accused also caused damage at the residence by kicking a door. He is to appear in court on the 24th of February.
