On the 2nd of February at approximately 8:43 am officers from Traffic Services attended on Pine Street for a motor vehicle collision involving a train and a car. A Huron Central Railway train was traveling eastbound on the tracks at Pine Street. Proper safety devices in relation to the crossing were operating at the time. It is alleged that a car operated by Wenbin Cui (male) of 12-110 Breton Road was traveling southbound on Pine Street and collided with the train. No one was hurt in the collision. The Cui vehicle received severe damage. Mr. Cui has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of disobey railway crossing signal-fail to stop.

Two Males To Appear in Bail Court

41-year old Donat Cyr was arrested yesterday afternoon on an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that on the 14th of December the accused assaulted a male by punching the victim in the face a number of times. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The incident occurred in a downtown residence. The accused has been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.

43-year old Laurent Paquette of 1-595 Second Line West was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of operate motor vehicle while disqualified-court order, one count of personation with intent and three count of breach of a release order. The accused was stopped while driving a vehicle in the Turner Avenue area. It is alleged that the accused provided a name other than his own to the officers, however, other officers recognized the accused. A query of Mr. Paquette revealed that he was prohibited from driving and was also on a number of conditions on a release order. It is alleged that the accused failed to notify his change of address as well as to keep the peace and be good.

Youth Charged with Assault

A 15-year old youth was arrested last evening and charged with one count of assault, one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that the in December of 2005 the accused was struck a family member and stole money and debit card from the victim. At the time of the incident the youth was on probation with terms to keep the peace and be good. The youth will appear in court on February 21st.

Break and Enters

City Police responded to a break and enter call around 5:30 am this morning at Soo Sports Excellence located at 208 Queen Street East. It is believed that a number of jerseys and a quantity of hockey sticks were taken. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

Yesterday, between midnight and 11am, thieves broke into a garage in the 200 block of Brown Street and stole a set of golf clubs.

Yesterday afternoon City Police took a report of an attempt break and enter to a residence in the 700 block of Pine Street. Damage was done to a doorframe but entry was not gained.
