Domestic Related Arrest Officers with the Sault Ste.
Domestic Related Arrest
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 44 year-old male on the 8th of December at 1:44 pm at a downtown residence and charged him with one count of criminal harassment and one count of threaten death or bodily harm.

It is alleged that on the 8th of December the accused was driving his vehicle in the area of his ex-girlfriend’s residence and when she left in her vehicle, the accused drove his truck into the path of her vehicle forcing her to swerve and run into the snow bank. The accused then got out of his truck, approached her vehicle and made threats to kill her and her new boyfriend. No injuries or damage was reported during the incident.

Officers investigating the incident also learned that the accused has criminally harassed the victim by continuously calling her and leaving her messages since their recent break up. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Winter Safety Messages for Children and Parents
Since the recent heavy snow fall, some children have been observed playing and sliding off snow banks near roadways. This could be very hazardous if the kids enter the roadways and possibly into the path of oncoming traffic. Advise your children not to play on roadway or parking lot snow banks.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service would like to remind parents and children to play safe during this winter season. Playing in the snow can be lots of fun but it does have its risks too. The following is a list of tips to help ensure your children’s safety during the winter months.

Children should
• Never walk and slide on snow banks which are close to the road.
• Never build snow tunnels as they may collapse and the child may risk suffocating under the snow.
• Move out of the way from road plows and trucks.
• Please don’t play games on the roadway – there are plenty of safe locations to play games.
• Wait until the school bus has come to a complete stop before approaching the door.
• Always sit or kneel when sledding. Children are at a higher risk of head injuries if they lay down.
• Never go out alone to play. Children should go out with a buddy and be supervised by an adult.
• Never play too far from home and never attend the ice rinks or snow hills by themselves.

Parents should
• Make sure kids are dressed appropriately.
• Supervise children who are outside.
• Tell children where their boundaries are to play.
• Supervise children at ice rinks and snow hills and consider having your child wear a helmet during these activities.

Please review these safety tips with your children and always remind them to play with caution. Have a wonderful and safe winter season.
