City Police responded to a motor vehicle collision yesterday afternoon at the intersection of Albert Street and Bruce Street. It’s believed that a 26-year-old female was operating a 1992 Chrysler vehicle in a southerly direction on Bruce Street where she failed to stop for a red light at Albert Street. Her vehicle then struck a 2002 red Dodge operated by a 28-year-old female who was traveling east on Albert Street. Both vehicles suffered severe damages. Both drivers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 36-year-old female who was the passenger in the Chrysler also suffered minor injuries. The 26-year-old driver of the 1992 Chrysler has been charged with Red light fail to stop, under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Trurned in on Outstanding Warrants

24-year-old Matti Keith McClelland of 98 Birch Street attended at the City Police Station yesterday evening just before 10pm and turned himself in on outstanding warrants. Mr. McClelland was charged with 1 count of break and enter and commit and indictable offence, 1 count of robbery, and 1 count of breach of release document. It’s alleged that on the 8th of September just after 11am the accused attended at a residence in the 100 block of Poplar Avenue and broke into the residence. Once inside the residence the accused assaulted a 21-year-old male with a crow bar and then stole an undisclosed amount of money and jeweler. The accused then fled the area. The accused was on probation and was to keep the peace and be of good behavior. Matti McClelland will be appearing in bail court this morning.

Break & Enters

City police responded to a number of break and enters yesterday which happened over night. In the 100 block of Sackville road a home was broken into between 12am and 8am. Jewelry, alcohol and a stereo were taken. In a second break and enter, a residence in the 400 block of Queen Street East was broken into and a suede jacket was taken. This occurred sometime between 10am and 1:45pm on the 27th of December. Just after 4 pm yesterday someone smashed a window in the 400 Block of Franklin Street, entry was not gained. It’s believed that an audible alarm scared the culprit off.
