Bail Court Appearance:

46 year-old Todd Petrie of #312-138 East Street was arrested on the 17th of December at 4:50 pm on East Street and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of breach of a release document and one count of engage in prohibited activity on premises under the Trespass to Property Act. It is alleged that on the 17th of December around 3 pm City police received a call to attend at the Calvary Christian Centre residential area at 138 East Street to remove the accused, a resident of the Centre, from another unit. When police arrived they instructed the accused, who appeared to be intoxicated, to return back to his unit. Around 20 minutes later, police were called a second time to return as the accused was attempting to get into the same unit again and was causing a disturbance. The accused was located in the hallway and arrested. It is further alleged that when officers allowed the accused to attend back at his unit to lock it up, they observed drug paraphernalia with a small amount of cocaine, morphine and cannabis resin on a desk inside. Officers also located stolen identification inside the unit. At the time of the incident, the accused was on a release order to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Impaired Driver Arrested:

46 year-old Robert Hall of 750 Cooper Street was arrested on the 18th of December at 2:18 am on Goulais Avenue and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of one count of fail to provide breath sample. It is alleged that one the 18th of December at approximately 2:12 am city police received information regarding a possible impaired driver that was heading north on Goulais Avenue. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle operating with no head lights and striking snowbanks. Officers located the vehicle stuck in a snowbank on Goulais Avenue and when they checked the driver they found him to be under the influence of alcohol. It is further alleged that the accused refused to provide a breath sample. He is to appear in court on the 26th of January, 2009.

Two Persons Charged with Theft from Sault College Book Store:

On the 17th of December around 2 pm city police were called to the Sault College Book Store regarding two persons that had just stolen a book. It is alleged that a female distracted the clerk while a male stole the book. Both left the store without any attempts to pay for it. They returned a short while later and attempted to return the book back for a cash refund. As a result, both were arrested and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of false pretence and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
The two accused persons were identified as 19 year-old Dyan Roy of 1000 Pine Street and 21 year-old Theodore Bebonang of the same address. They are to appear in court on the 26th of January, 2009.

Male Youth with Knife Threatens Beaver Gas Station Attendant:

On the 17th of December at 10:51 am city police received a call to attend at the Beaver Fuels on Trunk Road after a male youth pulled a knife on the attendant. It is alleged that the accused attempted to purchase a package of cigarettes. The attendant felt that he was not of age and asked him for identification, which he could not provide. The attendant refused to sell him the cigarettes and the male became upset, began to curse at the attendant and when leaving he pulled out a knife and threatened to slit the attendant’s throat. The male left the area walking with a female in an eastbound direction on Trunk Road. Officers attended in the area but did not locate the suspect.
The suspect was described as being around 17 years of age, shoulder length dark hair, slim build, approximately 5’11” and was wearing a grey jacket with a white hoodie underneath, blue jeans and white runners.
The female was described as also in her teens, with long dark hair, wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans.
Detectives are continuing the investigation into this incident.
