One Person for Bail court: Yesterday afternoon city police arrested a male for being intoxicated in a public place. Further investigation resulted in the male being charged with theft under $ 5,000.00 and indecent exposure.
One Person for Bail court:

Yesterday afternoon city police arrested a male for being intoxicated in a public place. Further investigation resulted in the male being charged with theft under $ 5,000.00 and indecent exposure. It is alleged that on Friday Aug 1st the accused was observed stealing articles of clothing from Sears in the Station Mall. When the accused was approached by security he fled. It is further alleged that later that same day he was seen on the board walk exposing himself. Tyler Moran, age 26, of no fixed address is charged with one count of indecent exposure and one count of theft under $ 5,000.00.

Persons arrested for theft:

1) Yesterday evening at approx. 8:30 pm city police arrested an 18-year-old male for theft under $ 5,000.00. It is alleged that Joshua Keene attended at the Sears Store in the Station Mall and stole a pair of shorts. When the accused was approached by store security he fled the scene. City police arrested the accused at Pim St. and Herrick St. after a short foot pursuit. Charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000.00 is Joshua Keene, age 18, of no fixed address. He will be appearing in court on Sept. 8th at 9:00 am.

2) Yesterday at approx. 12:00 pm (noon) city police attended at the Zellers Store in the Station Mall regarding a female shoplifter. Upon arrival officers arrested Marlene Black, age 44, of 119 Tancred St. main floor apt. It is alleged that Ms Black attended at the Zellers Store and stole some lady’s undergarments and some mouthwash. Value of the items stolen was approx. $ 13.00. She was apprehended outside the store by store security. Marlene Black is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000.00 and will be appearing in court on Sept 8th at 9:00 am.

3) Yesterday afternoon at approx. 4:15 pm city police were called to the Zellers Store in the Station Mall regarding a male shoplifter. Upon arrival officers arrested 18-year old Joshua Noel, of 563 Old Goulais Bay Rd. It is alleged that Mr. Noel attended at the Zellers Store and stole two fishing lures valued at approx. $ 16.00. The accused was arrested by store security and turned over to the police. Mr. Noel is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000.00 and will be appearing in court on Sept 15th at 9:00 am.

Man arrested for dive over 80mgs and resist arrest:

At approx. 1:30 am this morning city police officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Second Line W. It is alleged that once the vehicle was stopped the driver was given a roadside screening test and registered a “fail”. At this time the officers arrested the accused for drive over 80mgs. The accused resisted the officers’ attempts to arrest him which result in a further charged being laid against the accused. Mark Rose, age 29, of 567 Cooper St. Apt # 10 is charged with one count of drive over 80mgs and one count of resist arrest
Mr. Rose will be appearing in court on Sept 15th at 9;00 am.

Break and enter:

Police received one report of a break and enter yesterdays. An apartment in the 200 block of Pim St. was entered. Thieves stole a “piggy bank” and some DVDs.

Mischief:

A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Pentagon Blvd was egged yesterday evening.

Culprits damaged a flag pole and set a flag on fire at a residence in the 300 block of Charles St.

A resident in the 100 block of Dennis St. reports that unknown person’s burned his rear door.

Fire:

The Sault Ste Marie Fire Department and the Sault Ste Marie Police Service are investigating a suspicious fire. At approx. 3:00 am this morning a resident of the 100 block of Grosvenor Ave reports hearing an explosion and then seeing a vehicle on fire at the rear of The Beer Store at 250 Bruce St. The resident reports hearing several persons at the rear of the residence just before hearing the explosion. City police and the Fire Department are continuing their investigation into this fire.

Theft of Vehicle:

City police received a report that a 2002 gold Honda Civic was stolen from the 100 block of Spruce St. yesterday.

City police received two reports of stolen bicycles yesterday.

Bicycles were stolen from residences in the 2300 block of Queen St. E and the 100 block of Durban Rd.

Note to the public:

Just a reminder that Queen St.E will be closed to vehicular traffic from East St. to Brock St. on August 8th, 9th and 10th for the Buskerfest activities. The street will be closed at the following times:

Friday Aug 8th from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm
Saturday Aug 9th from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm
Sunday Aug 10th from 10:00 am -7:00 pm
