MAN ARRESTED FOR THREATENING WOMAN At 11:40 p.m. yesterday, the City Police were called to an address in the 300 block of Goulais Avenue.
MAN ARRESTED FOR THREATENING WOMAN
At 11:40 p.m. yesterday, the City Police were called to an address in the 300 block of Goulais Avenue. Upon arriving, the officers spoke to the complainant who advised that a man known to her had threatened her and caused damage to her property.

The male suspect, who was still at the location, was subsequently arrested. Charged with Threatening and Mischief is: Emerson Eklund, age 32 of 399 Second Avenue. He will be appearing in court on Sept 15 at 9:00 a.m. for these charges.


IMPAIRED CHARGE
At 8:40 p.m. yesterday, City Police officers investigating a motor vehicle collision, on Second Line West discovered that one of the involved persons had an odour of an alcoholic beverage on her breath.

The driver was subsequently arrested. Charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80 mgs is Patricia Leclair, age 36, of 62 Adelaide Street. She will be appearing in court on Sept 15.


BREAK & ENTERS
Three break and enters were reported yesterday. Entries took place in the 100 block of Tilley Road where the residence was entered via a rear window.

A residence in the 100 block of Grosvenor Avenue and the Macleod Brothers Mechanical Shop, on White Oak Drive were also entered. It is not known what was taken in these entries.


VEHICLES VANDALIZED
There were more reports of mischief to vehicles yesterday. Vandals once again hit an address in the 300 block of Wellington Street West and damaged two vehicles at this location. This is the second consecutive night that this has occurred. Also damaged was a vehicle parked in the Algoma Steel parking lot off Goulais Avenue.


HANDICAP PARKING CHANGES
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Traffic Services wants to inform the public of the changes to the
"New Municipal Act", specifically the section dealing with Handicap Parking Permits. Two very important changes have taken place.

First the fines have increased from $100.00 to $300.00 for Parking in a Handicap Parking Space.

Second, the fine for Failing to Properly Display Disabled Person Parking Permit has increased from
$20.00 to $300.00. The Handicap Parking Permit must be clearly displayed on the dashboard or the
sun visor to show the permit number and expiry date.
