Three persons arrested for possession of a controlled substance Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 22-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance.

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 22-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that the accused had a small quantity of marihuana on his person when stopped by police. Justin Odo, age 22, of 544 Albert St. W. Apt #3 is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. Mr. Odo is to appear in court on Sept. 12th at 9:00 am.

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called to Essar Steel regarding a male possibly in possession of a controlled substance. Upon arrival officers spoke to security and subsequently arrested a 27-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance. It is alleged that the accused person was found in possession of .9 grams of cocaine. Robert Simon, age 27, of 96 Biish Rd, Thessalon is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. Mr. Simon is to appear in court on Sept. 12th at 9:00 am.

Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called to 676 Second Line W. regarding a fight. It is alleged that when officers arrived they observed the accused with a baggie containing 28 grams of marihuana. Stephanie Murray-Hall, age 40 of 676 Second Line W. is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. Ms. Murray-Hall is to appear in court on Sept. 12th at 9:00 am.

Three persons arrested for theft under $5,000
Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested three adults for theft under $5,000. It is alleged that the three accused persons entered the Rome’s Independent Grocery Store and stole $371.48 worth of meat and food products. The accused were apprehended by store security and turned over to police.

Shelly Lepage, age 41, of 64 Glenwood Ave is charged with one count of theft under $5,000. Ms Lepage is to appear in court on Sept 12th at 9:00 am.

William Wynne, age 18, of no fixed address is charged with one count of theft under $5,000. Mr. Wynne is to appear in court on Sept 12th at 9:00 am

The third accused, an 18-year-old female is charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and is to appear in court on Sept 12th at 9:00 am.

It is further alleged that on April 30th the accused committed the offence of impaired driving and drive over 80mgs. On that date the accused was operating a motor vehicle that was involved in a collision. At the time of the offence the accused was injured and transported to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment. Blood samples which were taken from the accused which resulted in the charges being laid. The accused, who on April 30th 2011 was a 17-year-old youth is charged with one count of drive over 80 mgs and one count of impaired driving,

Female arrested for theft under $5,000
Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old female for theft under $5,000. It is alleged that between January 31st, 2011 and August 3rd 2011 the accused, while employed by the Bootlegger Store, stole $2,880 worth of clothing from Bootlegger, in the Station Mall. Amanda Bruni, age 24, of 73 Woodhurst Dr. is charged with one count of theft under $5,000. Ms Bruni is to appear in court on September 12th at 9:00 am.

Break and enter
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two break and enters yesterday.

A residence was entered in the 400 block of Moody St. - a computer was stolen.

A large quantity of tools was stolen at a break and enter in the 500 block of Second Line W.

Mischief
A vehicle was damaged in the 300 block of First Ave.

Theft
Bicycles were reported stolen from the 100 block of Atwater St. and the 600 block of Trunk Rd.

Note to the public
There has recently been a noticeable increase in the number of passports reported stolen. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has been informed that there is a high demand for stolen passports. Criminal elements in other parts of the province are paying high prices for passports. These stolen passports are then converted to allow criminals or illegal immigrants to assume you identity.
