Bomb Threat at Local Casino Yesterday afternoon City Police were called to the Sault Charity Casino after a bomb threat was received over the telephone. The Casino Security evacuated the building.

Yesterday afternoon City Police were called to the Sault Charity Casino after a bomb threat was received over the telephone. The Casino Security evacuated the building. Both the City Police and Casino Security contacted a search of the building. There are no suspects in this matter. Making phone calls regarding bomb threats is a criminal offence. If you know who is responsible for the senseless crime that tied up City Police officers for a little over an hour, contact City Police or Crime Stoppers at 942-7867.

Female Charged with Breach of A Release Order

A 24-year old female was arrested last evening in the downtown area. Officers had received information that the accused was in the company of her boyfriend while on a release document with conditions to stay away from the male. The accused was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The name of the accused will not be released as the conditions on the release document stem from a domestic violence call involving the male and the female in this incident. The accused has been charged with one count of breach of a release order and one count of breach of probation.

55-year old Gordon King of 760 Great Northern Road was arrested last after officers found the accused out after his 8 pm curfew, which was a term of a release document. The accused has been charged with one count of breach of a release document.


Assault Charges Laid

A 29-year old male will appear in bail court after being arrested last evening in regards to a domestic violence call. Last night around 10 pm City Police attended in the downtown area regarding a fight. During the course of their investigation officers learned that the accused had allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend by grabbing her by the throat. The incident took place outside of a residence. The victim did not require medical treatment. The accused has been charged with one count of assault.


Female Charged with Assault

A 41-year old female was arrested last night just after midnight for assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her common-law partner by throwing keys at her and by pouring beer on her. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in court on September 7th.

Two Youth Resist Arrest

Just before 9 pm last evening officers on patrol had occasion to check two young persons in the area of Gore Street. The youths had been stopped in regards to riding 2 on a bike, a City By-law infraction. It is alleged that both youths became belligerent and started to yell and swear at the officers. When the officers went to arrest the youths for causing a disturbance by swearing they both resisted arrest. A 16 and a 14-year old youth have each been charged with one count of cause a disturbance by swearing and one count of resist arrest. Both will appear in court on September 6th.


City Police received 4 reports of break and enters yesterday:

1) Yesterday morning, just after 6 am, a report was received from the Beaver Action gas station at 143 Trunk Road that thieves had entered the store overnight and stole cigarettes.

2) A home owner in the 100 block of Sunnydale Road reported that someone entered their residence and stole a purse, as well as 1999 Grand Am with Ontario licence plate ASPE 699. If you have seen this vehicle contact City Police.

3) A garage in the 100 block of Allen’s Side Road was entered overnight on the 2nd and 3rd and a golf cart was stolen.

4) Thieves attempted to break into the JCR Tire Service Compound overnight on the 2nd and 3rd but did not gain entry.
