Two for Bail Court: 1) Early this morning city police attended at a centrally located address regarding a domestic assault. Upon arrival officers spoke to a female complainant and subsequently arrested a male.
Two for Bail Court:

1) Early this morning city police attended at a centrally located address regarding a domestic assault. Upon arrival officers spoke to a female complainant and subsequently arrested a male. It is alleged that the accused, a 20-year-old male, assaulted his girlfriend by slapping, shaking and pushing her over a couch. The victim was not injured as a result of the assault and did not seek medical attention. The accused is charged with one count of assault.

2) Yesterday morning city police arrested a 39-year-old male and charged him with two count of breach of an undertaking. It is alleged that during the month of May, 2008 the accused contacted and followed his ex-wife while on conditions to not communicate with her and to stay away from her.

Male arrested on drug charges:

Yesterday afternoon the Sault Ste Marie Police Service “street team” executed a search warrant at
14 Gladstone St. S. Once inside the residence officers located and seized 15 marihuana plants. Marty Hunter, age 22, of 14 Gladstone St. S. is charged with one count of possession of a substance and one count of production of a substance. The estimated street value of the marihuana is approx. $ 15,000.00. The accused will be appearing in court on Sept 29th at 9:00 am.

Female arrested for assault:

Last night at approx. 10:00 pm city police were called to an address in the downtown area regarding a domestic dispute. Upon arrival officers received information that a male had been assaulted by his girlfriend. It is alleged that the accused, a 29-year-old female assaulted the complainant by punching him in the head three times. The victim did not require medical attention for any injuries. The accused is charged with one count of assault and will be appearing in court on Sept 29th at 9:00 am.

Male charged with failing to appear for identification:

Yesterday morning city police arrested William Johnston, age 49 of 313 Doncaster Rd. on a warrant for failing to appear for identification purposes. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear at the city police station on Aug 12th, 2008 for fingerprinting. He is charged with one count of failing to appear and will be appearing in court on Sept 29th at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for impaired driving:

Yesterday at approx. 3:00 pm city police attended at the intersection of Wellington St. W. and Lyons Ave regarding a motor vehicle collision. Investigating officers determined that the accused was travelling west on Wellington St. W. when his vehicle struck a vehicle stopped at the traffic lights at Lyons Ave. It is alleged that the accused William Swanson, age 41, of 4 Nish Ave, Wawa, was impaired by alcohol at the time of the collision. No one was injured but both vehicles did sustain major damage. The accused is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80 mgs. He will be appearing in court on Sept 29th at
9:00 am.

Break and enters:

City police received two complaints of break and enter overnight.
An apartment in the 500 block of Sherbourne St. was entered - cigarettes and a mini stereo were taken.
A residence in the 100 block of Cathcart St was entered - electronic equipment and games were stolen.

Thefts:

A bicycle was stolen from the 100 block of Creekside Dr.
Two vehicles were entered in the 100 block of Ashgrove Ave-small change was taken.
A laptop was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Great Northern Rd.
