Four persons to appear in bail Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old male for assault and three breaches.
Four persons to appear in bail
Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old male for assault and three breaches. It is alleged that the accused attended at the address of his ex-girlfriend and while there assaulted her. It is further alleged that the accused communicated with his ex-girlfriend. At the time of these incidents the accused was on a recognizance release order to stay away from the victim’s address and not communicate with her. The victim suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention. The accused is charged with one count of assault and three counts of breach of a recognizance.

Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 22-year-old female for assault with a weapon. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her ex-boyfriend with an aluminum broom handle. The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention. The accused is charged with one count of assault with a weapon.

Yesterday morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 37-year-old female for failing to appear in court and breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for court on April 4th, 2011. At the time of this offence the accused was on a probation order release. Crystal Harvey, age 37, of 844 Queen St. E is charged with one count of failing to appear for court and one count of breach of probation.

Yesterday evening members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 19-year-old male for sexual assault. It is alleged that between October 2003 and April 2009 the accused sexually assault a young female known to him. The accused is charged with one count of sexual assault.

Male arrested for threatening
Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 24-year-old male for threatening. It is alleged that while in custody at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre the accused made threats to one of the corrections officers. Tyler Ross, age 24, of 110 Grosvenor Ave is charged with one count of threatening. Mr. Ross is to appear in court on September 19th at 9:00 am.

Female arrested on a warrant
Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 35-year-old female for failing to appear in court. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for court on June 20th, 2011. Sara Bower, age 35, of 484 Shannon Rd is charged with one count of failing to appear for court. Ms. Bower is to appear in court on September 19th at 9:30 am.

Male arrested for impaired driving
On Tuesday August 16th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 50-year-old male for impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample. It is alleged that the accused was operating a motor vehicle on Cameron Ave while under the influence of alcohol. It is further alleged that when stopped by police and requested to provide a breath sample the accused refused. Brian Teal, age 50 of 48 Cameron Ave is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of refuse to provide breath sample. Mr. Teal is to appear in court on September 26th at 9:00 am.

Note to the public
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has investigated two motor vehicle-cyclist collisions recently where the cyclists have been at fault. In both incidents the cyclists suffered minor injuries. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Traffic Services wants to remind cyclists to ride their bicycles on the road and in the same direction as the flow of traffic. In the two recent collisions the cyclists were struck by vehicle approaching the sidewalk/ bicycle path from a private driveway. Cyclists should approach driveways with caution.

Break and enter
A garage was entered in the 100 block of Prentice Ave. two bicycles were reported stolen.

Mischief
A residence in the 400 block of Second Line W. had graffiti spray painted on the door.

Theft
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received three reports of vehicles being entered. Purses were stolen from vehicles in the 700 bock of Great Northern Rd and the 400 block of Queen St. E. A camera was stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Great Northern Rd.
