Stolen Sawed Off Shotgun Located At approx. 2:30 AM today, City Police officers performed a routine traffic stop of a motor vehicle in the Huron St. and Cathcart St. area.
Stolen Sawed Off Shotgun Located

At approx. 2:30 AM today, City Police officers performed a routine traffic stop of a motor vehicle in the
Huron St. and Cathcart St. area. During the traffic stop one of the passengers of the vehicle fled from the scene causing officers to become suspicious and search the vehicle. Officers located a canvas bag containing a sawed-off shotgun and approx 1000 rounds of shotgun and rifle ammunition. Also in the vehicle were two 12-gauge shotguns, a 308 rifle, and a 22-calibre rifle – all of which had been reported stolen in a “Break and Entry” in July.

The driver and remaining three occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged and will be appearing in Bail Court tomorrow at 10:00 AM. The police will be issuing a warrant for the arrest of the fifth male.

Police have arrested and charged the following persons:

1. Glen Alan Pelchat, age 22, of No Fixed Address is charged with 4 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, 4 counts ofPossession of A weapon Obtained by Crime, 5 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, 5 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, 1 count ofPossession of a Prohibited Firearm, 5 counts of Careless Storage of Firearm, 1 count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, and 17 counts of Breach of Probation.

2. Tyler Lucas Seaton, age 19, of 364 Albert St.W. is charged with 4 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, 4 counts of Possession of A weapon Obtained by Crime, 5 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, 5 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, 1 count of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, 5 counts of Careless Storage of Firearm, and 14 counts of Breach of Probation.

3. Mark Andrew Rose, age 27, of 567 Cooper St. is charged with 1 count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, 4 counts of Possession of A weapon Obtained by Crime, 5 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, 5 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, 1 count of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, and 5 counts of Careless Storage of Firearm.

3.The fourth accused person located in the vehicle is a 15-year-old male. He is charged with 4 counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, 4 counts of Possession of A weapon Obtained by Crime, 5 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, 5 counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, 1 count of Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, 5 counts of Careless Storage of Firearm, and 11 counts of Breach of Probation.

The police are still conducting their investigation of this incident.

Threatening

Yesterday evening at approx. 10:20 PM City Police arrested a 47-year-old female and charged her with Threatening. It is alleged that the accused attended at the victim’s west end residence and threatened to kill the complainant. The complainant contacted the police and the accused was subsequently arrested. The accused will be appearing in Court on Monday Sept 25th at 9:00 AM.

28 Year Old Charged With Mischief

Yesterday evening City Police arrested a 28-year-old male and charged him with Mischief Under $ 5,000.00. It is alleged that on Tues. Aug 15th at approx. 10:10 PM the accused attended at a residence in the west end and threw rocks at a van – breaking a rear window. The complainant saw the accused running from the scene. The accused and victim are known to one another. The accused will be appearing in court on Monday Sept 25th at 9:00 AM.

Sexual Assault

Yesterday morning at approx. 10:30 AM City Police arrested a 23-year-old male and charged him with Sexual Assault and Breach of Probation. It is alleged that the accused did on July 28th sexually assault a female victim, known to him, by placing his hands inside the complainant’s pants and rubbing her private parts. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.

Mischief In The West End

City Police are also investigating two reports of Mischief:

1. A house in the 600 block of Second Line W. had several window smashed out yesterday afternoon.

2.A car parked in the 600 block of Goulais Ave was damaged.

Cabbie Robbed Over $180 Fare

Yesterday morning at approximately 10:15 a.m. City Police arrested 42-year-old Norman Morningstar and charged him with robbery.

It is alleged that the accused did on July 3rd get into a taxi in Blind River and asked the driver to take him to Sault Ste. Marie.

The driver was paid $180 in advance.

Upon arriving in Sault Ste. Marie the accused [allegedly] produced a knife and took the $180 from the taxi driver.

The accused will be appearing in bail court today at 10 a.m.

Car Burglars

City Police received five reports of vehicles being entered and items stolen.

Vehicles in the following locations were entered:

1. the 200 block of Langdon Rd.
2. the 1000 block of Allen’s Side Rd.
3. the 600 block of Queen St. E.
4. the 100 block of Mary Ave.
5. the 100 block of Pozzebon Cr.

Items stolen include: wallets, purses, CD players and cash.
