FATAL ACCIDENT One person has been killed in an accident yesterday afternoon at 12:02 on Trunk Road near the Eastend Husky. Dead is Mark O'Brien, age 55 of Glenview, Illinois.

One person has been killed in an accident yesterday afternoon at 12:02 on Trunk Road near the Eastend Husky.

Dead is Mark O'Brien, age 55 of Glenview, Illinois.

Investigating officers determined that the accident occurred when a westbound vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes of Trunk Road and collided with an eastbound logging truck.

As a result of the collision Mr. O'Brien in the westbound vehicle was ejected into the westbound lanes of traffic and struck by another westbound vehicle.

O'Brien was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Several other persons involved in the incident suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation into the five-vehicle collision is still continuing.


BREAK-IN FOILED
Last evening at 7:55 a young person was seen attempting to break into a home in the 100 block of Anna Street. The suspect was forcing the rear door of the residence when he was discovered. He then fled from the scene heading towards the Phoenix Horizon complex on Manitou Park and McNabb Street. The suspect was wearing a gray hood shirt and a ball cap. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Sault Ste Marie City Police Criminal Investigation Office.


DAMAGE TO VEHICLES
City Police were called to investigate a mischief complaint in the 100 block of White Oak Drive yesterday morning. Upon arrival, officers found that several vehicles had been damaged with larges rocks. Any citizens that may have seen or heard anyone in the area overnight are asked to contact the City Police Criminal Investigation Office.

Another mischief report was taken from a resident of the 200 block of Dacey Road. In this incident the complainant reports that unknown person(s) slashed the tires of his vehicle.

City police are investigating two more thefts from vehicles from overnight. One car parked in the 100 block of Royal York Blvd was entered and a small amount of coin was stolen. The second incident took place in the 100 block of Parkshore Dr.
