On the 17th of April 2003, at approximately 12:05 pm, the accused, a 16-year-old female from Franklin Street went to Ecole Notre-Dame-des-Grands-Lacs High School where she assaulted the victim, a 17-year-old female, by pulling her hair, punching her in the face and pushing her to the ground.

The victim suffered a bump to her head and required treatment at the Sault Area Hospital. The accused was located at her home yesterday at 2:50 pm where police officers advised her she was being charged with assault and breach of probation. The accused was on probation to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. She will appear in court in early June.


DRUG BUST
Yesterday at approximately 3:00 pm, police officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit executed two search warrants at a Peoples Road apartment building.

Officers searched both and located four cannabis resin spliffs and 8 grams of cannabis marihuana. As a result of the seizure, officers arrested and charged Mark Mallette, age 41 of 1046 Peoples Road. #309 with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance. He will appear in court on June 2nd.


VAN WINDOWS BROKEN
In the early afternoon yesterday, a 15-year-old male from August Street went to a residence on Hughes Street to express his dislike for the occupant. While there, the youth took three bricks and smashed the windows on a van that was parked in the driveway. The youth broke the windows by throwing bricks threw them.

Damage to the van was estimated at over $1,300.00. At 4:00 pm the youth surrendered himself at the Police Services Building. He was charged with Mischief under $5,000.00 and Breach of Probation. He will appear in court in June.


ACCUSED SHOPLIFTER
Yesterday at 5:45 pm, the accused, Andrew Roberts, age 19 of 26 Samuel Road, Grimsby Ontario, allegedly committed theft under $5,000.00 by concealing a stereo wire valued at $45.98 under his jacket and leaving Canadian Tire without paying. Staff turned the accused over to police who arrested and charged him with Theft under $5,000. He will appear in court on May 26th.


UNUSUAL SHOPLIFTING RESOLUTION
Yesterday at 7:55 pm, a 13-year-old female from Goulais Avenue and a co-accused 12-year-old female from Peoples Road were seen in Zellers, Station Mall, where they selected a makeup pen, concealed it and left the store.

They were both then apprehended by store security and brought back to the security office. Police officers were called. In lieu of charges, the disposition agreed upon was that, by the middle of May, the accused are to submit a two-page written essay apologizing to Zellers and indicating why theft is wrong and should not be done. The value of the item stolen was $3.00.


BREAK & ENTER
Officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received one complaint of a break and enter to a vacant residence in the 500 block of Wellington Street West. Officers investigated this complaint at shortly after 10:00 am yesterday morning.
