Security Officer Assaulted During Shoplifting Arrest On the 20th of April at approximately 3:32 pm officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a call to the Station Mall to assist security officers with two shoplifters at the LCBO.
Security Officer Assaulted During Shoplifting Arrest
On the 20th of April at approximately 3:32 pm officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a call to the Station Mall to assist security officers with two shoplifters at the LCBO. When officers arrived they found a male suspect struggling and assaulting the security officer.

When the police attempted to take him into custody, he continued his assaultive behaviour and resisted arrest. After a struggle with officers the accused was arrested and transported to the police station. Further, the male was found to be on a probation order with conditions that he keep the peace, be good and he was to abstain from the consumption of alcohol. At the time of the incident the accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

A female suspect was also taken into custody and resisted officers at the time of her arrest. She was on a probation order as well to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

As a result, the male, Thomas Agawa, age 19, of #8-160 Frontenac Street was charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of assault, one count of resist peace officer and two counts of breach of probation.

The female, Ashley Chmilewski, age 20, of 1685 Highway 17 E Garden River Ontario, was charged with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of resist peace officer and one count of breach of probation.

Male Arrested for Mischief and Breach of Probation
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22 year-old Curtis St. Pierre of 20 Grosvenor Avenue on the 21st of April at 12:05 am and charged him with two counts of mischief and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 20th of April just before midnight, police received a call regarding the accused causing a disturbance outside a local bar and smashing a window out of a cab in the parking lot.

When officers arrived they discovered that the accused had allegedly kicked the door of the cab, denting it, and also smashed out the passenger side window after punching it. Officers found him in the parking lot and at the time he was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Officers also learned that the accused had thrown a grocery cart at another vehicle in the parking lot, smashing out the rear window. At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order to keep the peace and be good.

Break and Enter Reports
• A residence on Hugill Street was entered yesterday. A computer was stolen.
• A front porch of a residence on Queen Street West was entered and a chainsaw was stolen.
